Please note I say some things that might SEEM bad without proper context.....I ask that anyone who reads this read for context and try to get what I am trying to say here before assuming the worst....that said: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kohleran: The selfishness of people are apparent in allot of these posts makes me think of college kids I saw on tv, happily saying 'it won't kill me even if I get it, its not going to stop my party. I've been planing this for a whole three months!'
I linked to that, actually, a bit earlier in the thread. I also agree they made some dumb moves.
That said(and not to let them off the hook, but) let's be honest: we're ALL "selfish" to some degree....we all want to survive or for our loved one's to survive, and we want everyone else to comply with whatever is asked of them by govt/etc to get it in some cases.
Kohleran: Perhaps you'll survive, but you have it to pass on to another, who might pass it on to someone who will not survive it. You just become a murderer by proxy.
I get what you're trying to say, but you're technically wrong calling it murder(even by proxy).
For it to be murder one has to want to kill someone or have intent to do so....this would be perhaps be
negligent homicide in some cases, though.
Also what about all those who will suffer or maybe
die due to the lockdowns/layoffs/etc?
Kohleran: Its all me me me, who cares about other people?
As I said, what about those who have to suffer(actually suffer, not just staying inside a bit) due to the lockdowns so others can be safe? Aren't those of us asking such of them being a bit selfish as well?
Kohleran: This week, this time next week, lets see the numbers. I know just in the last few days it's been nearly exponential in cases. One of the governments leaders in this fight suggested this week to expect a very large bump in cases.
They should've locked things down from "day one", imo......all countries locking down all ports/etc for 1 month or longer.....NOT waiting until the last minute. =============================================
zstrastwa: Nice, yeah I agree almost completely with this guy. It's like how we should care about the cold, flu etc. Clean yourself, eat right and exercise, stay at home if you're sick so you don't spread it. From the map I've seen, it's infected 40k in the US so far and killed 500. Bad? Yes, death is bad. The CDC says the flu killed around 23k-59k people from last October to this March. -facepalm-
I think we should've locked ALL countries down from "day one": No travel to-from any country, etc.....and MAYBE we could've gotten this over with a lot faster and with less casualties.
Now we have to all suffer because of their inept handling of it and get the "evil eye" from our fellow humans if we don't follow every writ to the letter.
Thing is, in order for this to be effective now we'd likely need TOTAL LOCKDOWN and QUARANTINE for ALL....as in no one leaving their homes/yards much if at all for 3-4 weeks. People are STILL passing cash in stores(which isn't cleaned then handed out as change to others), people are still going outside to places with other people, etc....leading likely to more getting it even with "lockdowns".
