SCAMMER ALERT:

i received a strange message from a ZE0GOLD user (with a 0 because it sure is both this person's human worth and IQ level)

ze0g0ld 11:06

Hi again
I deleted my chat by mistake with the donated keys
Can you you resend them ? Sorry for my mistake
too bad for him:
1) another fake zeogold with a 0 on the second O already contacted me a day ago
2) i'm rather vigilant
3) real zeogold is not on this timeline (must be asleep at that time)
4) i had just written him a message 4 mins ago in our real chat history
5) as bad and lame gog website be on the social part, there is no way deleting YOUR chat history would delete it on MY side

i added on the insult a question for answer on one of your puzzlemaster mystery... it was hilarious

so please, stop this nonsense of lookalike account; zeo maybe THAT now should be reported to gog moderators, and they should block typo-lookalike accounts maybe or delete the fake accounts and let you register two ze0gold and zeog0ld dummy accounts yourself as some placeholders

so dear scammer, i have a steam key for you though:
FUC-KY0U-SC4-MM3R (should give you some nice game)

however, lucky me, I re-sent the email I originally sent to zeogold.... so no harm done (I think)

Good job on catching him!
I will NOT ask people to resend keys! As a matter of fact, I have an outside, detailed list where I have an exact record of who gave what key for what game and who redeemed what. Even if I were dumb enough to screw up my chat history, I would just wipe the games from the list rather than ask for a resend.
And can I just say, I find it brilliant and hilarious that you confused him about the puzzle thing. In fact, if you're ever unsure it's me, I'd love that means of checking - send me a puzzle or a question about one of my puzzles.
I would make these dummy accounts, but I feel it'd be a bit dishonest somehow if I did, so I won't. I'll add to the OP that I won't ask for key resends, though.

I was WONDERING why I got a second email. Sorry you even had to deal with that.

well that is the easiest first steap of scamming: same avatar, and lookalike username making use of gog's font being all uppoercases on website (except forum)
Thank you to Djaron and please +1 him for helping to avert that crisis. I've updated the OP and have warned the donors. Let us have no more discussion on this thread about it so we don't bog things down. This giveaway is going strong so far and I don't want it to be diverted. If you wish to continue this discussion, please do so at the following thread instead:
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/known_scammers
As a general guideline, if you're not sure somebody is me, remember that I'm the Puzzlemaster, so try something puzzly on him and pay attention to his grammar and manner of speech. I have a very distinctive style that'd be hard to copy. Besides, the last thing a scammer wants to do is use his brain. :D
Now, on with the giveaway!

Adalia Fundamentals takes care of that little problem and shows the usernames in chat how they look on the forum. There is also an option to see the join dates of the person you have a conversation with.

Aww, there goes my clever ploy to get people to send me puzzles. Guess I'm gonna have to open up a giveaway just for this purpose, eh?

yes someone told me about adalia script last month when i got scammed for my first trade attempt... it's quite an impressive job done in this tool... but here when i tried the script, it brought my intel core i5 on its knees and nearly froze my computer... i sure did something wrong somewhere... anyway for those on whom machine it works fine, it's a mandatory tool, given how very archaic and feature lacking the gog website and forum are...

i try to do with just common sense and vigilance so far
I also got it, but adalia's script made it pretty obvious. +1 for adalia. A bit sad the website's own infrastructure encourages/enables rather than discourages such behavior.

I hate to be like this guys, but please, let's have no more conversation about the scammer. Again, if you want to talk about it, talk about it in the known scammers thread or some similar thread instead. It's nothing personal, I just want to make sure the giveaway isn't derailed in any way.

If you're worried, you can rest easy for three reasons:
1. Most of the donors weren't fooled. One of them was even smart enough to send me the keys via email, so he just resent the email...to my address. :D
2. The keys that were resent were usually already given away or were mostly shovelware/bundled things or things I have multiple copies for already. The donors who were hit have stated that they didn't feel too ripped off since they didn't care/were prepared to get rid of the games anyways. There were actually probably less losses that there were in sharonbn's original giveaway and certainly less than you'd find in the Ninja Giveaway thread.
3. They don't call me the Puzzlemaster for nothing. I actually foresaw some problem like this coming, and I was smart enough not to list all the donors and keys. I actually have quite a lot more about the same length as the second list, I just haven't put it up there, and won't until it's been depleted a bit.

But for now, not much has changed, there are plenty games which have been given away to good people, and plenty of great stuff available, so let's keep this thing moving along!

Well that is odd... unless you happened to try it back when I was first implementing the fetch script for legacy covers (which did have a memory leak of sorts which would bring your computer to a stand still)

Would you mind trying again and if there is still an issue reporting the bugs in the thread so I can see what it might be?

Thanks :)

I would like to play Shank 2 and Deadly Premonition. Great games!
I will donate my spare Steam keys soon here.

Thumbs up for zeogold.
