ariaspi: Thank you! :D

I guess, you could put that in the first post.
Good idea. Done.
I'd like to hear from the kind donater who donated multiple copies (I'm assuming) of The Whispered World. Why did you enjoy it so much? I enjoy point and click adventures myself and have the game but haven't got around to playing it. Interested how the donor or others rank the Dadelic games. Thank You

I agree, the Whispered World has a very boring beginning and I couldn't get over it and see if it gets any better so I have abandoned the game for now. From the reviews I had read it didn't seem to be the case. Better point and click in the Daedalic catalogue are Memoria and A New Beginning. Their Deponia is also badly written and acted and I would stay away from it - I only cared for the German speech. The Edna and Harvey games are amateurish in the making but well written and witty. Please note that they are both producers and distribution.

The beginning in Whispered World was a bit slow but that is all I would agree to. I loved every game mentioned above especially Deponia. Badly written? I could not disagree any more. Unfortunately obviously most non German people need to have a sympathetic protagonist to enjoy the game. It's kind of funny - Deponia has been a big hit in Germany while people outside Germany - especially americans - really disliked it. Story based games like point and click adventures will always be problematic to judge since different people have different tastes.

One addition: The first Edna and Harvey was made by one person (actually it is the game that founded Daedalic) so it is no wonder that it looks a bit simple. However it was imo the first game in which you could combine everything with everything and always get a (mostly funny) answer. The second Edna and Harvey game has a much more detailed artstyle.
Hi. I´ve played a lot of Daedalic adventure games and certainly the beginning of Thw Whispered World is a bit slow but is a charming adventure. There are a lot of various themes in these adventure and is difficult to say what are the best of them, but i´d say Night of the Rabbit, Anna´s Quest and the saga of Deponia. I´ve pending Memoria and Chains of Satinav but these also have good reviews.

While respecting your POV, I think it's a bit more complicated than that. There have been other protagonists that aren't sympathetic that work (Arthas, e.g.).

I hated Deponia but I don't think it was the story or even the character that pushed it too far but the !(@*&#$# voice acting. It's one thing to have a character present as annoying, but another to have to listen to their godawful whine for hours.

But because you hated it it is not a bad game. Again: I loved it and nearly all of Germany loved it as well. I guess we have to accept that tastes are subjective and there's nothing wrong with that.

I don't think it has anything to do with nationality. I enjoyed the first Deponia game very much, but in the second game Rufus really became an annoying self-centered jerk. And even the much better German voice-acting (compared to the English one) didn't change that.

Strange enough I really enjoyed Randal's Monday though, another game which a lot of people hated, because of the non-sympathetic main character.

I haven't actually played the game so was interested. Lost interest in the second part of Deponia but I need to revisit it. Started the first Edna and Harvey, which is likeable but hard imo. I played the Dark Eye prequal to Memoria but haven't got into the latter, it didn't grip me initially

It's sad they and many others are moving away from the genre though

finkleroy: I've decided not to say "you're welcome" every time someone thanks me. Instead I'll say it right here and now. To everyone who has thanked me in the past and to everyone who will thank me in the future, you're welcome!
I sometimes have the same feeling, especially in chat for key reception. I even thought that you had to do a lot of small words in the cat, for evidences :-). So, can I say thank you here, this time worth for all the next ones that might be needed in the future? It will not stop me, anyway, to express my thanks to the donors :-)

Hmmm ... but it was intended for him to be a self centered jerk and imo he was even in the first game. But yes, nationality was just a guess of mine and maybe I am completely wrong here. So I guess it's just subjectivity and nothing more :)

I have played it in German, I think it's just boring, badly written and the humour is third grader's. No different dubbing can save it. Many good adventures don't even have dub, like the Last Door or all the classics that we have loved before CD-ROMs came out. It's cool that a lot of people likes it, I regret a bit having bought the trilogy without trying the first, but in the end I will play them when I am out of better graphic adventures with German speech.

That's all right (and I am sorry that the game is not for your liking) - but it's just your subjective opinion.
May I ask Tower of Time please?
