MarkoH01: Maybe GOG contacted possible people after they fired their last true (and imo capable) moderator and noticed that they might need SOME form of moderation. Then again we all know that GOG does not really care much about the forum - otherwise they would have fixed it a long time ago.
Well the level of moderation here is rather *paculiar* for a lack of more appropriate word...
And yes it seems GOG staff doesn't really pay to much attention EVEN TO THEIR OWN POSTS.
Some time ago I pointed out to them a very obvious mistake in their website code related to special easter sale - and none of GOG staff replied neither they fixed it.

MarkoH01: Btw:
"If not noted then keys don't have activation deadline.
Also if not noted then keys once activated don't expire. "

Once activated NO key should ever expire ;)
1.I wouldn't be so sure about that unless you have official confirmation.
2.I am not very versed with GOGs technical details as of yet ( so I don't know how it is in this case ). To give you an idea of what I mean - on Steam I am versed enough on technical side that I even point out mistakes to developers when I feel like it ( not very often because if they are not good enough to figure out their mistakes themselves then they often don't actually listed when being corrected and bigger studios just generally don't listen PERIOD ). And there on Steam it is TECHNICALY possible for key to expire although that is rarely used ( but considering the kind of majestic f*ckups developers do REALLY ALL THE TIME while configuring packages I wouldn't be suprised to see it being made by accident ). Also GOGs API seems like a nightmare IMO so it only adds to the insult and confusion so I wouldn't be suprised if they do have a magic flag in their system that allows such kinds of things.

Themken: If it turns out that GOG did not actually have permission from the correct rights holder(s) to sell the game, then maybe.

MarkoH01: Well, afaik that never happened and I am sure it also was not what B1tF1ghter wanted to say. He probably just wanted to say that keys don't expire if not noted otherwise (without the activation part).
That is indeed not what I meant but you do bring up interesting point.
Some time ago I runned into this. I'm just gonna leave it here and you go decide for yourself.

And now I just realised it was your post... This is hilarious...

Yeah I don't want to go to much off topic ( I'm sorry finkle. Please forgive me finkle ).
Although I find it peculiar that nobody seems to be requesting free $hit at the moment, like requests silenced recently ( Now, I know that selection is small and all, but STILL ).

If a BOUGHT and REDEEMED key would expire it would be a breach of contract and the very least they's have to do is to give your money back. But like I said it never happened.

The difference is that they did not remove a GAME they removed an extra and since they say extras are not part of the contract since it was given away for free legally speaking this is not the same as simply removing a bought game from your library without compensation.

The games that are available sre available on GOG for quite some time and they were also on sale multiple times (at least most of the games listed) so my guess would be that most GOGers who would be interested in the games already own them.

What I meant more is that perhaps gog employs technical ability to utilise license expiration in their system regardless if you see that on the store or not. And if they would sell such keys they would have to inform about that before purchase and if they would then it wouldn't be a breach of contract if they would remove it within the contract boundaries.
What is more conserning tho is that there is a real possibility ( it is very small but it surely exists ) that such keys could end up on giveaway without donator notifying giveaway host about them having expiration ( the possibility of this occuring is even smaller but still it is possible ). Still on gog you can more or less check the key before activating it ( unless something has changed ) unlike on steam.

I'm aware of that but still it is debatable what is part of a contract if it is literaly part of what is advertised on store page. Like for example if you have at the moment of purchase wallpaper pack advertised as part of purchase I would say it is in fact a part of a contract.

That is probably a correct assumption. But still I can't help it but feel like us going slightly ( because our conversation is still related ) off topic is slightly reducing requests throughput.

I am sure that's not the case. I mean honestly: if there were a game you'd like to have and you'd still have the opportunity to get it (meaning limit is not reached) would you really not request it just because some idiots are iscussing a slightly different matter in the same thread? ;)

Also, I am sure that finkleroy will tell us when we've derailed the thread too much.

Then again: we basically said all there is to say so we can end the discussion and see if requests will come back.

I check every key that's donated before adding it to the list of available games. If there's an expiration date, I make a note of it.

Good to know finkle. Still my point stays valid - I have never encountered ( I think ) a key that has expiration date so I really don't know if that would display it there or not finkle.

Also I would appreciate if community would stop downvoting me :/ There is no reason to be toxic people :S

Normally keys that have an expiry date (mostly the case for freebies) show the date when you try to redeem them. However there were some few cases in which keys (also freebies) did not show an expiry date at release even though they did expire. This was a mistake by GOG and they tried to make up for it by giving those keys another limited time frame to redeem. In other words: if GOG does not mess up and since finkle is testing all keys it's at least really unlikely that an expired key will get here.

Haha... Yeah... It's just that some people call him like that. That's all :P ;) ( although you made a funny spin at my nickname xD I appreciate the comedy :P )

EDIT: HEY, what's with the freaking downvotes people? I lost like 5 rep in few hours just with activity in this thread right today ( I know because all of my recent posts here are suddenly low rated and few hours ago they were not and I don't have any such issues in other threads I'm active in). Chill out people! Don't be so darn toxic towards me! >:(

Huge thanks to Mortius1 for The Last Door: Collector's Edition - very much appreciated. And as always, thanks to finkleroy for running the giveaway.

You're welcome.
I see this key has been sitting here for a while. May I ask for The Witcher 2 - Assassins Of Kings, and see why the game got so much praise.
