No, I haven't, but I have no idea if there are any free and secure VPNs (and how to set them up).

I'm pretty sure there are, but I haven't looked into it. I swear by Mullvad, which is 5 euros per month, and works exceptionally well. For me, anyway.

I think I does not make sense to pay for anything "just to use one thing from time to time". :(
And, after all, I'm not even sure if this will work for me.

If anyone can share his/her opinions on any free options I'd be very glad to hear them.

Same here "Something out of the ordinary is going on, please enter your phone number" (I filled in the absurd "seaplane" capchta perfectly then also completed the "Verify Email Address for Discord" email received sucessfully). Nope. Phone number or else. Sorry finkleroy, I'm not giving out my phone number for the sake of a few free games, so end of the line for me.

Thank you all to everyone here who has donated games in the past, and thanks to finkleroy and predecessors (zeogold?) for the huge work put into managing these. Good luck to those heavily into the social media / Discord thing to enjoy them.

The phone number thing is weird... I've never had to do it. Check if there's an option for e-mails instead.

Same here. Apparently it's quite common.
I begrudgingly supplied my secondary phone number. It's not free, but if you have a dual SIM phone, getting a prepaid card is something to consider. I don't know what prices are like in your area, but it only costs me 2 € every 3 months.
Once you verify your number, there's an option in the account settings to delete it. I haven't tried it, since I don't know if that will just pop up the verification page again.

If someone still has a free key for the "PC Building Simulator - Deadstick Case" DLC and would mind giving it away I would like to have it. I just bought PC Building Simulator in the last sale and am so far liking it.

It seems, that a large fraction of people has issues with Discord. And I don't like the idea either.

There are many different services, which could be used instead.

A dedicated system can be developed for Giveaway management and hosted elsewhere.

But we should know reasons to come up with convenient solution.

I can send you one of those, but you'll need to change your privacy settings so that you can chat with everyone so that I can send it to you.

Yeah I'm getting the same message. Browser is up to date, double checked there were no ad-blocker extensions enabled, etc. There was no option at any point to select e-mail verification after registering (which I'm sure they already did anyway with the "verify e-mail address" email they send), it just jumped straight to "'something' is wrong, phone number is compulsory" thing without even explaining what that 'something' is (about as 'helpful' as Windows new "smiley BSOD's"...) Searching for it comes up with a lot of complaints. Financial institutions maybe, but I can't say I'm in any rush to give out my private mobile number to login to a chat app.

Ah well, it was nice while it lasted. A big thank you to all here who have donated in the past including the insanely generous Danger-Mouse loving Doc0075, and many other donors, and also to finkleroy and zeogold for administering these giveaway over the years.

As for your next explanations: I have an old phone, it's not even a smartphone. Even that I'm still very concerned about what people are posting here (the need of phone number) - even if VPN works then I'm not such eager to share my number in that case.

It's a real pity that I won't be able to read the explanations of this move (I can't use Discord and it will be probably the only source for them) but I've compared the topics and it seems that people who use non-GOG giveaway are far far less concerned about this (not a single post at this moment) than here.

Maybe there is still a chance to move only non-GOG giveaway to Discord and leave GOG one on forum?
