Given these recommendations, and since the end of the month is approaching with no one else having shown interest in this game, I downloaded the demo of this from the internet archive earlier today, and been playing it through the evening. I contacted support about my expired 'Mount & Blade' code.
Here is the reply.

Hello,

As that code was generated during a giveaway which had an expiration date, I'm afraid I cannot offer any kind of replacement. In case of any future problems please redeem the gift codes for free games from giveaways during said giveaways to be safe - they can extend a bit, but will not be redeemable forever. Gift codes that are bought do not expire.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding.

That's not normal ! These codes wouldn't expired, it was clearly mentioned on the redeem page. I still have a screenshot as a proof !

Well, they said all free codes should expire soon after the giveaway, those set to expire "never" are a bug, and they only replace the expired Fantasy General ones with others expiring a week later if you ask right away because they should have expired today yet instead they expired yesterday, so that's their compensation for that mixup. For the other mixup, with saying "never" and then just expiring, nothing.
But this is a tiny thing after all. You know, GOG "never". Like "never" having regional prices. Waiting for the expiration date of "never" having Galaxy no longer be optional.

My Neverwinter Nights code (included in this giveaway) still shows expiration date as "NEVER".

If they think they will make giveaway keys time-limited, fine. But doing that retroactively isn't a good decision I think.
