zeogold: A note about me surreptitiously adding games to the list:
I was originally going to post regular updates as I do in the non-GOG edition, but I decided to keep it this way instead because, for one thing, it's a bit less work, and for another thing, to keep that same sort of traditional feel from the previous GOG Community Giveaway. From what I can tell, some people like the excitement of constantly checking back to see if anything's changed.
If you guys would rather me do an update-announcment style, let me know.
I'm all for no announcements. For those active on the thread, checking the list just keeps things a bit exciting. For those just looking for a game, well, it's the least they can do.
Somebody should really request Faces of War. It's an awesome WWII RTS game! Battling through Berlin and conquering the Reichstag in the last campaign thus ending the war is nothing short of epic.

zeogold: Sorry, this giveaway is only for the active community. Hang around the forum a while first, then come back after people get to know you. Take this as an encouragement to get to know the great folks of GOG!

Denied due to lack of participation.

CraigGen_1970: Reading your "Rules" I would rather buy my games than have to beg for them from you. You say great folks, yet your "Rules" are from someone I would just simply ignore since you don't come across as someone "great".
1) Those rules are stated for a reason and people who have actually read them imo have no reason to complain about rejection because they know that they aren't eligible before they showed at least a bit of participation. It's stated clearly in the OP which unfortunately many don't read.

2) Without this "someone" whom you don't think is that "great" this giveaway would not even exist at all.

3) I want to give you an example of how one could react entering here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_community_giveaway_steam_edition/post4505
As you can see brainvision knew that he could not get a game then (April 2017) because he read the OP yet he still stayed friendly. It's now just a month later and during this time he was active in the forums hence he got his nomination now granted. Isn't this a better way then being grumpy about the whole rejection of a request thing?

4) If you don't like the rules simply don't participate. Problem solved. If you want to compete in a contest but don't like the rules you probably won't participate but you also would not state that you don't like the rules because they are just that.

I just cannot see the problem some people have when they get rejected here. Zeo always stays friendly and does even explain the reason for the rejection. He could also just say "read the OP - rejected" - but he doesn't.

I'm going to explain what's happening here because you don't seem to understand it - with the exception of a few freebie leftovers, forum members buy these games with their own money and give the keys to Zeogold to distribute, on the understanding that he'll give them to other active members of the community.

It's nonsensical to blame him for not giving them to people who haven't participated in the forum when he has a responsibility to do exactly that. What you have a problem with isn't him, but the entire concept of the community giveaway.

If you think the idea of active community members buying games to give to other active community members is so unfair, perhaps you should buy some games yourself, start your own giveaway, and run it as you see fit rather than lashing out at the wrong person or trying to spoil other people's initiatives.

Well said. I wanted to respond myself but you basically said everything I had to say (and probably much better than I could've myself).

you make me feel like the first of the class! (well, not sure if I'm comfortable with that! :D )

btw I can confirm everything; guys don't be upset about those rules: they aren't meant to keep you away or waiting ages but to prevent scammers and a-hole and most important - but that's my personal opinion - to try to consolidate the community and go beyond the "I play that", "I love that"..
Last but not least I can assure that who created the rules would be the first to love if we wouldn't need them..

Yeah i agree, & this is coming fr some1 who loves playing RTS games & enjoyed playing C&C ever since the series came out. Lol.

Wld hv asked 4 it but hving just won a GA it just didn't feel right 4 me 2 ask 4 a game here right now, Haha. So we shall c if it's still ard by the end of the mth, if no1 asks or is nominated 4 it in 2 wks time perhaps i might hv a go @ it then. ;p

Edit: Oh & CraigGen_1970, if u think running a Community GA is easy & not great u can jolly well buy ur own games & keep ur mouth shut. We sure dun need another user who just joined in Apr last yr (& an inactive 1 @ that) 2 complain abt who's great or not. Thk u very much.

From the GA list:

-Bio Menace (†) (Note: Key comes with a free kitten.)

I would really like to have the kitten but I don't know if you could guarantee that he/she will arrive here safely. Also not that much interested in the game itself - would that be a problem?
May I nominate mike_cesara for Faces of War?

Thanks for bringing that game to my attention. Not now, I'm afraid, but I'll check it in the future. For Linux users - please, note that the game has Platinum status in WineHQ database. Not sure if still valid (reports are old and refers to old Wine versions), but that's the next good reason to check and update its status ;)

All I see are a bunch of ELITIST Pricks.

Look at me everyone, I'm great because I give away a bunch of old crap noone cares about.
