PaterAlf: Thank you for the nomination. I have one question though: Metro: Last Light Redux is the second game in the series. Does it make sense to play it without having played the first one? Or will I miss too much of the story? If that's the case I would rather decline the game and leave it for someone who can completely enjoy it.

drealmer7: From what I've gathered myself (not played, but looked stuff up, just a little as to not spoil myself) there is a continuation of the overall "world story" and developments and a growing of the atmosphere and locations that make progressive sense when played in order. But I'm not sure how much the individual narrative is affected, but for me, I'm completely anal about playing series in order, even if just for the littlest of things that enhance the games but aren't huge plot-line continuations. To me, these are definitely games that should be played in order, but I can't attest to the importance of it or how much it might matter to you, obviously someone who has played both will have more input.

mrkgnao: I recommend you play them in order. They have the same player-character and the second takes place chronologically some time after the events of the first (specifically, after one of the game endings, regardless of the ending you chose at the end of the first game).

drealmer7: Excellent to hear! When looking at games like this I almost just kind of "peek" at things because spoilers bother me a lot (even if it is just a minor one) and from the peeking I did I did not glean this information, which is very important to me. I'm curious, are the endings to choose from an actual choice at the end that is explicit, or is more in tune with choices you've made previously in the game affecting which ending you get more subtly/more like an RPG will do.

mrkgnao: You get to choose from two endings pretty explicitly at the last few seconds of the first game, but the choice is made available based on your earlier actions. If you played in a manner that was not **spoiler** enough or did not do some things (e.g. **spoiler**, **spoiler**, or **spoiler**), you do not get a choice and see only the so-called "canonical" ending. I played the game without reading anything beforehand and got the choice of both endings (and saw both, since it just requires replaying the last few seconds of the game), so I guess it's pretty straightforward to get the choice. I only read about it afterwards.

omega64: It's really easy to cheat it. :P
If you take off your gasmask you have a while until you actually die.
If you keep taking it off and putting it back on again you can survive much longer. :P
Exploration is pretty much mandatory if you want to survive legitimately though.

mrkgnao: Yes. The two things I hated most were gas masks and librarians (you probably haven't met the latter).

I did like those levels that can be completed almost entirely by sniping the hostiles from afar (that's my primary FPS strategy since I don't know how to run and shoot at the same time --- so apart from sniping I only use two other strategies: stand and shoot, or run and scream).

cecil: I prefer being a tank type in an FPS and getting in there with melee or a good flamethrower in the case of games like army men

mrkgnao: I don't think I ever used a flamethrower in any game, hence the saying "a good flamethrower is a sold flamethrower".
