That's gonna take a while finishing those.

cecil: I prefer being a tank type in an FPS and getting in there with melee or a good flamethrower in the case of games like army men

mrkgnao: I don't think I ever used a flamethrower in any game, hence the saying "a good flamethrower is a sold flamethrower".
There's a pretty great dlc mission in Metro Last Light.
You get trapped in a spider nest and need to get out with a flamethrower.
The flamethrower is pretty great in that game.

mrkgnao: I did like those levels that can be completed almost entirely by sniping the hostiles from afar (that's my primary FPS strategy since I don't know how to run and shoot at the same time --- so apart from sniping I only use two other strategies: stand and shoot, or run and scream).

My primary FPS strategy is to run away from the games themselves :) Not counting Deus Ex (was a sniper, but used very sparingly, stealth/hack/meleed my way through it as much as possible) and the few minutes of Half Life or Far Cry (uninstalled before any fight), can count those I played, ever, on the fingers of one hand. Exactly. Wolfenstein 3D, Quake 2, Secret Service, some multiplayer Counter Strike and just a bit of Undying. Finished? None, though I got very close in Wolf if I remember right.

Flamethrower though, final fight of Bloodlines. Put a can in that thing when I brought it down once.

Same here, the only time I used flamethrower (in game) was in the Far Cry 3 specific mission (still remember the music in that mission, people that played FC3 will know :P).
But, always wanted to make a "flamethrower build" in Fallout 2 with pyromaniac perk etc. but somehow neved did. :(

cecil: I tried last light and couldn't get into it but maybe i just hated the dying due to the air issue... For a minute I thought you were all talking about the walking dead games ;-)

mrkgnao: Yes. The two things I hated most were gas masks and librarians (you probably haven't met the latter).

You should really play "Shadow Warrior (2013)". Nearly at the end of the game you come to a great courtyard...and there will be spawn x-waves of enemies, so you must shoot with every weapon that has ammo left, run for your live and heal yourself under enemy fire...that is quiet a way to "die hard". xD

Now this being THE Community Giveaway thread that i had told myself to refrain from asking any game till i felt i hv contributed more to this community & to resist even commenting in since it's inception almost 5mths ago least i get tempted to ask for a game, i couldn't resist replying to the flamethrower comments that appeared recently so pls forgive me for the derailment.

I had played Rtcw & i found the BEST weapon in the game is actually that can of canister of fuel strapped to ur back. Y i say that u may ask when is has limited range & there r much more powerful weapons in game? Well, the simple reason is i found a 'legal hack' (ok, more like a possible loophole) where i can use it with UNLIMITED FUEL while NEVER getting noticed or dmg in any way. =D

In order not to spoil the fun for others who had not yet or do not know the method, i shall not mention it here. I just want to say that once u know the trick, it is literally a breeze to get thru the game. The ONLY enemy it does not work on is the FINAL BOSS but i also found a way to defeat him EASILY. I guess i shall just leave it @ that. Thks ppl for bearing with my derailment. :)

If you mean in Return to castle Wolfenstein, flamethrower exploit is well-known. And final boss is pretty much easy once you learn his moves. I beat the game so many times i ended up kicking him until death.

I hope they do HD remake with achievements one day.

After running around in final boss fight, I sort of got him stuck near the wall. He was trying to go into me, but some wall was in the way, so I could stand in place far from him and shoot to his left side of the body till I killed him.

Sometimes if a final boss is too annoying to figure out or to try and live through after multiple annoying deaths, I'll just use a cheat code for immortality and beat it and feel no qualms about it. There's no point leaving the game with an "arrrgh, that was stupid hard" after an enjoyable experience overall.
