Randalator: Just FYI, because I assume that English is not your native language: English is tricky in that it makes excessive use of (often quite flowery) phrases to express politeness.

A simple sentence like "Please pass me the salt" can be quite rude if used outside of close family and friends, although it would be perfectly fine in other languages like for example German.

Now, you said 'please' and 'thank you', true, but both of these sentences sounded like you're hurriedly ordering at a fast food restaurant. In case of this giveaway, which is intended as more of a thank you to active community members, this comes across as rude, especially from someone who wasn't visibly active in the community before. It implies a sort of entitlement, like you're certain that you'll get and deserve any game you want and just have to specify which ones exactly.

This might not have been your intention but that is how it comes across.
Well said. Just because you say please and thank you doesn't mean you're being polite.

There's more to being a nice member of this community than meaningless pleasantries...

Sir 1st let me start by applauding you for giving actual reasoning and being polite even after you witnessed that word carnage. .
English is indeed not my 1st language,as it might be observed from my country location.
Honestly while I could have prettied up my post and made it more "sweet sounding" would be the term I didnt give it much though since I assumed that the point it was bringing across was rather clear and easy to understand. I also didnt wanna make a long million mile request post(which ironically Im doing now -.- ),because I honestly find they sound a little bit like begging, but I guess to each his own, Still thank you for bringing this point to my attention in a civilized manner. I will try and keep my eye on this in the future.
Firstly i would like to thank IamSinistar and for the code of Stronghold, the key has been redeemed. :)

I'm not sure Garrett24601 has gotten anything from this giveaway or its original iteration. Seeing Moebius: Empire Rising on his Steam wishlist, I would like to nominate him for that game.

Thank you to moonshineshadow and to all the contributors for keeping this going!
Could I ask for one the Blackguards? I won't reach it by myself this sale.

There is also more to things than assuming hostility in everyone words and interpreting them negatively >.<

This is a never ending circle of what did he mean by that is you cant hear the voice I tell it in,therefore you CANNOT assume what I mean by that. I could have said that please as sweet as I possibly can or I could have shouted it angrily. You cant know that. Thats why you judge a what that person means by words they are using. So if I say f*ck you you know Im angry, If I say thank you assume Im being polite. There is no space for personal inner voice meaning and what that person meant by their words, Just read and understand it based on what is written. Simple really.

WingsOfRequiem: 1 divine divinity please :) and thank you
This is not a question, it's prettied up with a please and a smiley face, but it's a demand.
No "Would it be ok" or "Can I have", a common courtesy included by even the most well known and respected members of this community when requesting a game here. Just the same kind of demand you might make to a server in a coffee shop or fast food joint ("1 Burger or 1 Coffee please!"). Maybe that wasn't intended, you're right we'll never be able to know, but that's what it looks like from the outside.

And then, before even receiving a response to the first post (or probably because you hadn't) you make another demand:

avatar
WingsOfRequiem: Is anyone by any chance giving away any of the SpellForce games? If not just please send me one Divine Divinity ty :)
First for games not even listed and then a second thinly veiled demand for the original game.

And when called out on this you responded poorly, and continued to respond poorly.

The irony is; Divine Divinity is one of those games that the requirements to receive are less stringent due to the abundance of codes, so if you'd just been more patient and polite you probably would have got the game.

But I can tell you're not going to accept you are in anyway way at fault, so I'll leave it there.
So, how is the Community Giveaway going today... oh.

Then let us simply agree to disagree. To my mind I was polite to your I was demanding and rude. So let us not speak more of it
Yup

So to Moonshineshadow who's hosting the thing and to Big_Stupid, who donated a package full of Saints Row: the Third, I have this to say.
Enough of all this. Please everyone get back to the topic of this thread. I am sending someone to watch you :P
