The right-wing nationalist party is getting 39 seats in parliament, out of 200, making them the second-biggest political party in Finland by a margin of just one.

On the upside, it does look like our MP's are generally getting younger and more diverse as some of our Cold War era politicians are retiring.

Cool, I hope they'll be doing even better in the next election.

Notre Dame cathedral burning is painful to watch, like a punch in the gut. Something of great historical value that can never be replaced literally goes up in flames.

Sad and shocking indeed. It's part of the cultural heritage of all humankind. The news showed the spire falling with no warning -I could feel the tears in my eyes.

I just hope they managed to save most/all of the artwork and artifacts when they saw the fire was starting to spread.

Supposedly they did...some stained glass windows from the 13th century have been definitely destroyed though.
At this point they're not even sure, if the cathedral can be saved at all.
If it was an accident, there must have been some serious negligence involved.

That's a relief at least. Now we just have to hope that the fire doesn't compromise the strength of the walls and bell towers. Perhaps they can rebuild it in a decade or two then :P
