Hello everyone,

I would like to buy THE BINDING OF ISAAC. I usually prefer to make purchases on GOG, but I know that the game's support here has been debated, particularly with the achievements which, until recently, were not implemented, and the version of the game was outdated.

Currently, the game is on sale on Steam. Has everything been fixed with the GOG version as of today, November 6th? Are the achievements no longer buggy, etc.?

Thank you :)
Nope, the game is still outdated, missing dailies and other things, and the worst part is neither GOG nor Nicalis have the will to do anything

Honestly I don't think Nicalis deserves the money after abandoning the game here, but if you're gonna buy it anyway, steam is the way
But i love DRM FREE :((

The difference between both versions are huge ? Do i really miss something with the GOG version ?

Maybe one day the game will be updated here ? There is no hope ?

While I can't say for certain if this is true but I have heard one needs the dailys to unlock a item that allows one to get to a specific part of the regular game ..thus you'd be missing a chunk of the game as a result.. again not sure if true or not.. just something I keep seeing repeated over and over

Damn, that's annoying..
Why do dev\pubs release games here just to abandon them? -_-
Maybe things will change in the future ! Maybe it's better to not rush on steam and wait here...

Fingers crossed

Honestly I wish Gog would do something about that as if Gog did while they'd get less devs/pubs willing to come here atleast then we'd get games not just dumped here and left alone

https://bindingofisaacrebirth.fandom.com/wiki/Daily_Challenges

Quote: "The daily challenge (or daily run) is a unique run generated every day.
Daily Challenges were introduced in The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth.
Daily challenges start the player off with a specific character, seed, end-stage, difficulty and set of starting items.
The player is scored and placed on a global leaderboard after ending the run.
The run can only be played once per day, but an unscored practice run is unlocked afterward, which is identical to the Daily Run but can be played multiple times.
Unlike regular runs, the Daily Run cannot be continued; exiting the Daily Run will end it and disallow further progress.

All unlockables are available during daily challenges (the game acts as if full game completion was attained for this save file).
Daily runs cannot be played if mods or the debug console are active.
However, mods can be used on practice runs, after finishing a daily run for that day.
Finally, achievements are disabled during daily challenges."

Even if we forget about the dailies, because they can't be bothered to make a pool of seeds for a DRM-free version... yeah it's been over 2 years already without getting the latest patch

Also Isaac as a whole seems to be done, so if the devs have moved on that severely decreases the chances of them ever coming back to update it

It's mostly laziness. Serious Sam 4 for example suffers from the same. The game has seasonal themes for Halloween/Christmas, that change some stuff. However, the functionality has been implemented through Steam and was not ported over onto the GOG version.

Most just don't bother porting things like dailies/seasonal content/leaderboards or rankings into a DRM-free/offline environment. Yet another example of the stranglehold Steam has in the gaming space.
