eiii: I also can recommend Flatout. It's still my favorite racing game on GOG. If you look for a rather simple fun racer you cannot go wrong with it. And when you are not in the mood for serious racing it's just evil fun to destroy your car step by step, set it on fire and watch your driver flying dozens of meters through the air after a crash. :P

The only racing game on GOG which may be better than Flatout is Race Driver: GRID. It's one of the mystery games, but as I'm only interested in a few of the mystery games the odds are too bad for me to gamble for it.
Sounds interesting :)
I must say I'm hardly happy with racing games (which is frustrating, because I love to play some when they're good), especially arcade ones. Some of my personal all-time favorites : Wipeout 2097 (PSX), Wip3out (PSX), Colin MacRae Rally 2 (PC), SledStorm (PSX), Carmageddon (PC), Gran Turismo (PSX), Rally Trophy (PC). Rollcage 1& 2 (PC) were very good too, F-Zero and Mario Kart on SNES too, and I liked the first SSX on the PS2. Dirt Rally which just launched seems my kind of racing game, unfortunately, my computer is way too old to even try it :P

I'll buy the first Flatout if it goes on sale with a big discount, with all that you say, of the two, you confirm me that it seems the more appealing one for me :)
I heard good things about Race Driver: GRID, but I'm not really attracted by it... But I'll keep it in mind if I see it on sale, especially if I liked Flatout :)

Thanks for your opinion !

By the way, I bought MX vs. ATV Unleashed and played it a bit (I would say one hour so far) : for what I saw, it's not the best game and has flaws, but it's a nice racing game with some interesting things in the gameplay and seems to have a lot of content.
In short, enjoyable if you liked the racing games of the PSX/PS2 era :)

Random_Coffee: I played it a lot on the original Xbox back in the days, and I think it was a pretty good racing game. It has traditional races and freestyle competitions. I believe you could buy ATVs and other motorcycles with different CC after a while as well. So I only remember vague details, but I remember very well making a full pot of coffee, setting the timer on the freestyle dirt-track to 99 minutes, and just playing it :P I don't know how well it holds up today though, I might buy it again to find out.

Edit: Does anyone know if the PC-version supports split-screen multiplayer?
Thanks for your opinion :D (even if I already bought it , but it can always be useful for some people ;))
Honnestly, it is a really pleasant game so far, and I'm very happy having purchased it. I hope to find one day another "great racing game", but it seems to be already a good one, and I think I have things to learn in the gameplay to fully enjoy it.

By the way, maybe you can help me by the way if you remember enough... What is the "clutch" key used for ? I mean, how to use this, and for what ?

I look right now if it has splitscreen !
Edit : and it doesn't seem to have... The gamecard say only "single-player", and I looked in the menus of the game : the multiplayer one only contains "Lan" and "Online". I didn't saw anywhere something enabling splitscreen. That's a shame, because it would have been great :P

SeduceMePlz: Not true anymore since Sanctuary RPG: Black Edition, $7.99, is among the mystery games...
Woah, thanks for noticing, the second batch does include a game worth $7.99. We'll update all the relevant little places shortly!

I believe you used the clutch to do tricks. If I remember correctly, the backflip was D-pad up, then down on the controller. I don't remember if you had to hold the clutch while doing this, or if you just had to press it once.

Another user reported a game at 6.99 too.

Hum... I'll try ! (there is a dedicated key for tricks, so may be clutch during the jump or combined to the tricks key ?). But I noticed that clutch seems to influence some things, but I'm not sure (and not sure how it influence). I succeeded to do a "backwheel start" with the clutch, but can't remember how exactly XD I'll have to try more things with this key.
And I looked, it seems there's no splitscreen unfortunately.

Leroux: Is the game really that hard and inaccessible to anyone but hardcore gamers, as some reviews make it seem? I don't mind a lack of handholding and having to keep track of things myself, but I'm put off by games that let you screw up your character builds easily
While certainly bad for a roleplaying game, when a game is accused of, or even advertizes, trap options, I just google builds on the interwebs. (I haven't played Serpent, but that's what I'm doing in Maj'Eyal, and I'm having a great time.)

avatar
Leroux: And is there an in-game notepad so I don't have to keep pen and paper at the ready but can keep my own notes in the game?
Just alt-tab to Notepad++ or something. Even if a game has note-taking, it usually doesn't support drawing, so an external text editor is superior to an in-game one (no problems with exporting either). Unless alt-tabbing crashes the game, that is. That'd suck.

Alright. Try the dirt-track with all the ramps on it. I don't know if you are using a controller or not, but try clutch + D-pad up + D-pad down (or the keyboard equivalent) as you drive on the ramp. I believe you had to do the combo for the trick when you were on the ramp, and the trick gets done when the bike is in the air.

Hey, I succeeded ! I think you have to keep the "Stunt modifier" key while doing what you say, and it's working ! Niiiice :D Thanks for the help ! (Now I need to try to succeed a "Three sixty")
The more I play it, the more I like this game !
I only need to learn more about clutch. Do you know if it helps turning ? Receptioning from jump ? Stabilizing during bumps ?
Edit : it seems that clutch isn't useful for doing backflip and 360, only the "Stunt modifier" key is needed ! And I succeeded doing a 360 :D Hurray !

Hm, that's true but in general I dislike constantly switching to the desktop when in game (I dislike playing in windows, too), and when it comes to actual drawing I'd prefer paper anyway. I'd just like an in-game notepad for quick notes about quests and such, things I still need to do, stuff I need to explore at a later time, something to replace the in-game quest journal if there is none.

Anyway, I've decided to hold off on buying Serpent in the Staglands until I've played through some of the other RPGs I've accumulated (I haven't even tried the games that seem to have inspired it yet, namely Darklands and Ultima VII), But thanks a lot for replying, Starmaker, much appreciated!
Tomorrow is of wingmen and their carefully-composed hitlists.

Wing Commander and Hitman?
No games from my wishlist in today's deals = money saved. :D
Day 7 - The Owned Edition

I have all but two of the games on sale today. Both are on my wishlist, but waiting for a bigger discount since they'll end up deep in the backlog anyway.

I buy way too many games.
Looks like we've started getting quite a number of repeats in the daily deals.
