500+ deals up to 90% off, $3 mystery games, and free games just for shopping.

A jocund flame swallows up the cold, cold streams of outside air. The holidays are coming, and everyone begins to feel a little more generous, a little more kind, and a little bit giddy. We're feeling it too, because this time around, winter came to GOG.com before it was cool.

The Holiday Ninja Squirrel (have you met her yet?) brings a generous surprise for all with $3 Mystery Games from the GOG.com catalog, each worth between $6.99 and $34.99. These games won't be part of the regular sale lineup, and unowned games will be prioritized to minimize repeats. We're starting out with a pool of 50+ games, but we'll be adding more throughout the sale - we'll let you know when that happens.

Maxvorstadt: Well, I spend enough for getting Divine Divinity, it says that I have earned the game when I click on the "Earn free game" thing, but how do I get this game?
1) Click on "Earn Free Games" at the top right corner of home page.
2) Click on "Unlocked"
3) Click on "Redeem"
I highly recommend Ronin!

One of the few turn-based (stealth) platformers I've played but they certainly made it well, both as concept and the execution. You have to plan your moves ahead but it pays to make mistake on purpose just to see where the line is drawn.

Ronin is an interesting game mechanically. One problem, though - it's got bugs. Ended up getting stuck inside walls more than once on the final level. After a few times of that, was starting to get sick of playing it all together.
I only notice that the Realms of Arkania games were in sale on the previous batch of games... Missed them the time I decide myself to buy them ! I was certain they were in the actual one :P I hope they'll be back !
I'm interested in Book of Unwritten Tales 2. This one is regional priced, but offers no store credit. Did I miss a good news announcement?

I don't know. I took a look, and if you purchase the "Almanach Edition", you have store credits, if you buy the simple edition, you get none.
Maybe a bug ?

Only the almanac edition is regionally priced in Germany (and many other regions).
The regular edition is only regionally priced in Russia, Ukraine, and nine other ex-Soviet countries.

Thanks to both of you!
Hmm, I'll almost certainly get either Mark of the Ninja or Don't Starve before sale's end (unless something else really jumps out at me before then), but I'm not sure which....

avatar
CarrionCrow: Northern winds isn't King's Bounty since GOG wouldn't do a full bundle while some of the series is part of the mystery gift setup.
Being reminded of Icewind Dale, but that's always part of the D&D bundle that GOG used less than a month ago.

mrkgnao: Nordic bundle?
I call a "build-your-own" Nordic bundle, and the TellTale The Walking Dead bundle (if I predict this one enough times, it's bound to be correct sooner or later =P).

HunchBluntley: the TellTale The Walking Dead bundle (if I predict this one enough times, it's bound to be correct sooner or later =P).
I really liked the first one (probably my favourite point & click adventure).
The DLC and the second were weaker, but still OK.

Depends on what you prefer to play : survive, or stealth. If you have questions, I played both of them, I'll do my best to help you if I can.
Personally, between this two, my favorite is Don't Starve. Mark of the Ninja is great, but Don't Starve is really incredible. And frustrating (you can die really easily after long hours of play). But I come back playing regularly Don't Starve (which is a kind of "roguelike"), in contrary to Mark of the Ninja, that I know I'll certainly play again for full playthroughs, but so not on the same regular pace.

One bug at the last level doesn't strike me as much of an issue. Personally I didn't notice anything but it's a while ago, some minor issue might have appeared but nothing major. I played it through twice as well, trying to get the challenging part of the game which was great.

Splatsch: [...] And frustrating (you can die really easily after long hours of play).
I played Ragnarok (old roguelike, not the Korean MMO) a lot for years, and have occasionally gotten into NetHack, Tales of Maj'Eyal and Spelunky (original) in more modern times, so frustration-inducing instant permadeath is nothing new to me. ; )
I probably won't be buying anything more until at least the first sale recap (I'm assuming they'll have one mid-sale), so I'll have some time to consider. But if I have any questions, I might well ask them of you, so thanks!
EDIT: clarified wording

I was under the impression that most of the interaction in these games came in the form of QTEs and dialogue choices. (I've avoided gameplay videos as it seems the sort of game that could be easily spoiled.) Are you saying it's actually got a bit more DNA from traditional adventure games than I had thought?

I have tons of experience with Mount & Blade and mods, so I'm curious if anyone would say the Viking Conquest addon is worth it? When you can just go grab Gekokujo, Floris and all those other massive mods it's kind of a tough sell.

It's only that loosing 5-10 hours games can be a little bit frustrating sometimes. Except this point (which isn't problematic for you), the game is really, really great (and this permadeath is part of the pleasure (and mechanic) of the game too).
Yeah, feel free to ask if it can help ! It will be a pleasure ! You're welcome :)
(never heard about "Ragnarok" I must confess :P)
