500+ deals up to 90% off, $3 mystery games, and free games just for shopping.

A jocund flame swallows up the cold, cold streams of outside air. The holidays are coming, and everyone begins to feel a little more generous, a little more kind, and a little bit giddy. We're feeling it too, because this time around, winter came to GOG.com before it was cool.

The Holiday Ninja Squirrel (have you met her yet?) brings a generous surprise for all with $3 Mystery Games from the GOG.com catalog, each worth between $6.99 and $34.99. These games won't be part of the regular sale lineup, and unowned games will be prioritized to minimize repeats. We're starting out with a pool of 50+ games, but we'll be adding more throughout the sale - we'll let you know when that happens.

IronArcturus: Speaking of Painkiller, when is GOG going to get the rest of the expansion packs?
avatar
Random_Coffee: Would be nice to have here, I guess, but I've heard that most, if not all of them are pretty bad.
Really? But how could more Painkiller be bad? :P Painkiller: Black wasn't enough!

I know :P More levels with the same awesome engine and weapons seems like a great idea. I looked them up real quick on Steam an hour ago, and none of them were made by People Can Fly, reviews were negative, and one of them had a metascore of 43. How could they mess up Painkiller? :/
I'm calling TellTale Walking Dead bundle for tomorrow's "threes and tales". Hopefully even cheaper than it was when it first appeared. =)

Azhdar: I wish all S.T.A.L.K.E.R. titles appear as a big discounted bundle in this big sale. I pray for it. :D
Well, that worked rather well. If you're up for it, you should pray for Morrowind to go on sale by itself at more than 50% off. ; )

avatar
IronArcturus: Has anyone checked out their own Wishlist lately? Why is the "Discounted" filter gone now? That was a really useful filter for sales...
It's gone no matter whose wishlist you're looking at. I've no idea why that would be removed, either. Seems a rather stupid move. : /
EDIT: Never mind, it seems that it comes and goes, on both my own and other users' wishlist pages. I suppose that's better than it having been removed on purpose, but it's still a weird, irritating glitch.

I wish we could see a Painkiller sequel on GOG. They don't make arena FPS games like that anymore!

I don't think you'll be disappointed - it's a fun game. And in answer to your original concern, I had no technical difficulties with it on Win 7 64bit

Thank you for the reply! I'm glad to know it's working well.

mrkgnao: 1) Install Barefoot Essentials, which has this feature (not sure if enabled by default, though).
I already have enough problems with GOGs web pages and would prefer not to install another possible source of incompatibilities to my browser. And I'm not sure if I like all the changes which it introduces. But maybe I have to add another browser profile and try it out.

Does Barefood Essentials filter out the owned games from the search results (which would lead to the same number of result pages, only with fewer entries) or does it actually display the search results on fewer pages?

avatar
mrkgnao: 2) Get your library from GOG into MaGog (takes seconds) and use MaGog's filters (requires learning to use MaGog).
As much as I like the data MaGog collects it isn't that easy. As far as I remember MaGog uses local storage which is cleared every time I close my browser. But the main problem, especially during sales, is that I often have not the time (or patience) to wait until MaGogs database is updated. I would like to have the search functionality provided by MaGog with real-time data from GOG. But I doubt that ever will happen, seeing how cooperative GOG has been to white-list your IP address and how long it takes until useful features get implemented on GOGs site itself.

There's already a wishlist entry for this feature, maybe it helps to vote for it:

filter_by_games_not_owned

And here's a wish for another feature I miss on GOG which further would improve the game search:

add_order_by_price_and_order_by_discount_to_search
Another freebie from the last sale that expires 12/15/2015 - Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

The former.

It is cleared only if you delete all cookies and local storage upon closing the browser. I don't, but I know some people do.

Yes. The one hour delay is annoying, but I don't expect this to change, as you yourself explained.

I claimed that one. Thank you very much! :)

I guess it only works for me and my wishlisted games. :D But because you're a cool guy, maybe we see that miracle in this sale too. :)

Nice city builders.
A genere that once squized the brains.
I bought Renowned Explorers: International Society after watching totalbiscuit's review
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXCleyTTShY

looks like something I might enjoy.

Thought about getting Armello not sure if I might wait. Wonder how a single player game of it might go. I read a review that indicates playing multiplayer can be slow going as you wait for other people, while the AI is generally quick on it's turns.

Won't ever buy the Aremello soundtrack even though I often do buy game soundtracks if available. The MP3 only with no FLAC, I draw the line on. If I buy audio it has to be at least CD quality lossless.

I just don't understand in this day and age why there are still MP3 only soundtracks. Either the developers don't know about good audio? or was that part of the deal with the composer. Couldn't find the soundtrack on bandcamp so don't know if you can buy it separately.

Hello everybody. Since it's another sale, maybe someone out there is interested in getting System Shock 2 or Chronicles of Riddick - I have codes for these two titles that I'm willing to give...

//Edit: already gone...
