500+ deals up to 90% off, $3 mystery games, and free games just for shopping.

A jocund flame swallows up the cold, cold streams of outside air. The holidays are coming, and everyone begins to feel a little more generous, a little more kind, and a little bit giddy. We're feeling it too, because this time around, winter came to GOG.com before it was cool.

The Holiday Ninja Squirrel (have you met her yet?) brings a generous surprise for all with $3 Mystery Games from the GOG.com catalog, each worth between $6.99 and $34.99. These games won't be part of the regular sale lineup, and unowned games will be prioritized to minimize repeats. We're starting out with a pool of 50+ games, but we'll be adding more throughout the sale - we'll let you know when that happens.

Swampland: So tomorrow's bundles might be a TellTale one and... What could be the three thing?
Trine bundle?

Some nice deals today. Will probably cave on Armello.
Question for those that experienced the "Mystery Game" bug on Day 1. When your mystery game was finally revealed, was it one that was on your wishlist? And if so, did the game actually get removed from your wishlist?

You probably see where I'm going here, because my revealed mystery game did not. It's stuck there, and I am unable to remove it using the wishlist page button or the game card button.

Anyone else?

Edit: It is now gone from my wishlist. I don't know if GOG did a fix in the background in the meantime or if it just took an extra long time to respond to my attempts, but all is now good.

One stupid question, after you buy Postal 2 you get another Postal 2 version as a goodie, whats the difference ?
Is it the main game without the Weekend ?

Has anyone checked out their own Wishlist lately? Why is the "Discounted" filter gone now? That was a really useful filter for sales...

IronArcturus: How is that FireStarter game? Is it similar to Quake 3?
I've not played it yet, but going by the gamecard it has more RPG-ish aspects for a FPS. So maybe think Borderlands-lite.

NuffCatnip: Gonna buy Papers, Please and Postal 2 and maybe just maybe Wolf Among Us

"Tomorrow comes in two: Of threes and tales."

I cant make anything out of this clue...any ideas ?
avatar
XxXSprayvWarXxX: Maybe some more TellTale game on sale or some adventure games with a story behind them. I don't know.
Could happen, true. ^^
I have to say the "three" part is bugging me. xD

That's the original installer from before the game got the version 1415 update. For details, see here.

Is the "Price - Discounted" filter under your wishlist gone as well? I'm wondering if this is a bug.

I just checked, the filter is still there for me.

jackster79: Looking at Sunless Sea right now... it is in my wishlist but the reviews are mixed. One in particular states that going a merchant route is non-existent.

Can anyone who played it post-release on GOG provide some insight (both on that aspect and the game in general, beyond what the reviews say)?
It's not really a game in which the goal is money-making---not like Port Royale, say. You try to make money for specific reasons in this game (i.e. "I need a ship that holds more fuel for more range, so I can get over to X location") and to keep being able to buy food and fuel to get further.

I absolutely adored the game after the first couple of hours. You really sort of have to get into its mindset (which is basically like going all Lovecraft + Bram Stoker + Moby Dick + Treasure Island + something indescribable unique to the devs). I tend to play games for stories, and I will never, ever forget some of the zee tales I heard on the Sunless Sea.

However, you will need to be willing to get through those first couple of hours, and those may be very frustrating. Expect to lose your first couple of captains; and if you choose right, you'll end up better off when you do. Think of it more like, say, Crusader Kings in that respect; you're building a dynasty in small increments. It will take the efforts of many generations to reach any of the given "goals". The Zee does not unlock her secrets to the casual explorer, but the dedicated will find both wonder and horror in her depths.

I have it, yes.

Yeah, Sunless Sun turned out to be a real grind-fest. I was pretty disappointed when I found that out. Plus, when the captain dies, the player loses practically everything which didn't make sense to me. In a real rogue-lite, there should be something significant that gets passed to the next round so the player will want to continue.
