500+ deals up to 90% off, $3 mystery games, and free games just for shopping.

A jocund flame swallows up the cold, cold streams of outside air. The holidays are coming, and everyone begins to feel a little more generous, a little more kind, and a little bit giddy. We're feeling it too, because this time around, winter came to GOG.com before it was cool.

The Holiday Ninja Squirrel (have you met her yet?) brings a generous surprise for all with $3 Mystery Games from the GOG.com catalog, each worth between $6.99 and $34.99. These games won't be part of the regular sale lineup, and unowned games will be prioritized to minimize repeats. We're starting out with a pool of 50+ games, but we'll be adding more throughout the sale - we'll let you know when that happens.

Well, that was it for now.. Overall, it was a very nice sale; nice bundles, very good daily deals, nice free games, the ninja squirrel, what else can you ask for? Everyone, have fun with your new shinies! :)
Pretty good sale, got a couple of games from my wishlist, only game i didn't get was Swat3 (bit pricey at 9$)
For me..... this year's sale sucked. Sorry guys. I love the site, the games, the sense of community. But, I wanted one game. Just one. It had been on my wish list for what seemed like an eternity (In reality, it had prolly only been maybe a year and a half that I had been waiting. But it just seemed like so very much longer). Patience has always been in such short supply for me. (Something I clearly need to work on) And finally, it went on sale! But by the time I could get to a computer to make the purchase, the sale had expired.

A major lost opportunity for me. And a lot of Christmas sadness to go along with. So, I guess I'll wait.... and watch, for another year or so for the next big year end bonanza, and hope that my title goes on sale again. But hopefully, when (and if) it does, maybe I won't be tied up with work, and I'll be able to buy the game I so desperately miss from the golden age of computer gaming. I would just splurge and buy it anyway, except my Christmas budget is super tight this year (Overtime was temporarily disallowed at work about six months ago, and I still need a present for my sister, and my niece).

Well, with a new year comes new opportunities. So, we'll see what happens. Ya never know. And one of the most endearing things about humanity, is that hope truly does spring eternal with us. Happy holidays all, and much love. May Santa be kinder to you this year, than timing was to me this time around. :)

What game was that? There are a lot of gift codes flying about.

And, BTW, next time you might want to consider posting here that you very much want a specific game and might not be near a computer in time. Other people could then buy it for you and you could buy something for them at a later date. Happens all the time.
I wish it had run till Sunday evening.... spare a thought for us lazy/hungover people GOG!

Oy, that's rough. The two-day sale finale started Friday morning. I thought my e-mail arrived pretty late, not making it to my inbox until 3:00 AM Saturday, but yours takes the cake. GOG definitely still has a long way to go to get their sale notifications out in a timely fashion. :/
Just remember in the future: all sale/promo e-mails will mention the actual date and time the event ends. If it says "48 hrs./"24 hrs./"[whatever] left", don't just go by when you receive the mail. Always note the end date.

I wouldn't be surprised if GOG's mass emails are sent out in some order that considers the user's account's activity or age. In addition to my own mrkgnao account, I have two much newer (2015) and empty accounts, which are used exclusively by MaGog. I always get promotion emails to my mrkgnao address hours/days before getting them to the other two accounts.

Why wouldn't they just send them out all at once? I assume there's something about the technology or software that I don't understand.

Sending out an email does not take zero time.

Let's assume it takes one tenth of a second to send out an email. And let's assume GOG has to send out one million emails. That would take 1,000,000 * 0.1 = 100,000 seconds = ~1,667 minutes = ~28 hours.

The real numbers are different and the math is simplified by not taking into account multiple machines, multiple addressees, etc., but the principle is the same.

Ah okay, thanks for the explanation.

Same here, I was going to complete my LucasArts classics collection!

I also would have loved to get Giants: Citizen Kabuto for free, but I couldn't figure out what to do! On the front page it said to click to the product page, and on the product page the links took me back to the front page in an endless loop. I suppose if I'd just bought the Lucas bundle it would have shown up in my library as well?

Oh well, lesson learned... I won't leave it to the last minute next time! Although that does make it more exciting, with the countdown and all.
I don't know why Gog decided to end the big promos on Sunday.
It was perfect on Monday, like the recurring weekend promos.

When I looked at my account I realized I had purchased 26 (after unbundling) games within last 6 weeks...Hope GOG will give me some time to recover from this madness :-P
