Starmaker: how do I install python 3.5 and IDLE on Mint (3.4 won't do, for "reasons")? I'm on Rebecca 32bit if it matters.
Pyenv.
DAMHM, that's a list and a half!! :-o

I'm already on Linux, have been for a few years, but would be excellent to get a game that is on my wishlist. Put me in the pot for these, ordered with my greatest wish on top.

Tyranny
Divinity: Original Sin
BioShock (if it is actually DRM Free, and not the usual (these days) Humble Bundle BS about steam (spit) keys)
Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines
Jade Empire
Prine of Persia: Sands of Time

Thanks a lot for doing this, and especially for getting more focus on Linux. GOG are still behind in getting Linux games here that are actually available for Linux, or easily can be. Getting more people to buy (or get) and play more games on Linux will hopefully put GOG's feet to the fire a little bit, so they kick this process into gear.

Again, thanks a lot, and many +1.

babark: I have a dualboot laptop with xubuntu and windows 7, but these days, unfortunately, the only time I use xubuntu is when windows 7 is acting up (which is happening more frequently now, actually). I haven't even switched over to 16.04 yet...maybe I should one of these days. Who knows, maybe they've made nvidia driver compatibility stuff easier to do now...

adamhm: The proprietary Nvidia drivers are easy to install on Mint and Ubuntu, and offer the best compatibility. Just add the graphics drivers PPA first so you can get the latest drivers, then open the driver manager and install them from there.
Saw this from the first page. I actually re-installed Nvidia drivers very recently (375.20), and although I did it a little differently, they work very well. I first added the PPA, and then installed the driver via terminal, rather than use the Driver Manager (didn't know you could --- but then I never checked). I simply followed this recipe, which has worked well for me in the past. It looks longer than it really is, so don't be discouraged (or do it like adamhm suggested)

Hate to link to anything related to *that* site, but will have to make an exception in this case as it's an excellent guide that is hosted there.

That's something else I'm working on as well... in addition to trying to get GOG to work towards getting the missing Linux versions here we also need to contact the respective publishers/developers of the affected titles and ask them about it. The more of us that do this the more likely we are to get results.

On Mint, you simply:

Add the PPA:
Open "Software Sources" from the system's menu or System Settings
Select "PPAs" then click on "Add a new PPA..." and enter ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa (if you select and copy this first then it'll automatically paste it into the entry box), then click ok & hit refresh

Install new driver:
Open the Driver Manager from the system's menu or System Settings, select the driver you want and then click on "Apply changes". Once it's installed, simply reboot

May be we should make some wiki page for those titles and summarize what the problems are?

There's a GOG Mix for that!

Games that have native Linux ports ... elsewhere

Not sure how up to date it is though.

Well, GOG mix isn't easy to collaborate on. Plus it has very limited descriptive features. Wiki would be better.

It's quite a huge list though. Rather annoying.

Agreed on both the wiki being better, and the size of the list being annoying.

Ask and you shall receive!

I removed the entries that are promised, or that aren't official (ie. icculus versions). GOG isn't likely to sell an unofficial version of a game. I did very little verification of the information too. Some of those listed may well now be available on GOG.

To be fair there are quite a few games in the mix that are merely have Linux versions "planned" but not actually available for Linux anywhere (or only available unofficially from third party sites) and some of them won't be getting a Linux version, e.g. Hard Reset Redux... it's a bit unfair to include those games IMO. Still, even without those it's way too big.

Anyway if anyone's interested in trying to help get some of the missing Linux releases here, here are the contact details for the publishers of some of the bigger titles:

----- Contact details: Koch Media/Deep Silver -----
(Metro Redux series, Saints Row series)

Email and postal addresses can be found at:

UK: https://www.deepsilver.com/en/imprint/
France: https://www.deepsilver.com/fr/imprint/
Italy: https://www.deepsilver.com/it/imprint/
Germany: https://www.deepsilver.com/de/imprint/
Spain: https://www.deepsilver.com/es/imprint/
US: https://www.deepsilver.com/us/imprint/

Their support address might also be worth trying: techsupport@deepsilver.com

For the Saints Row games in particular, you can also try contacting Volition using the contact form here: http://www.dsvolition.com/contact/
(that page says to visit SaintsRow.com about the SR games but I was unable to find a contact form or address there, so just use that contact form anyway, or try the support address)

For the Metro Redux games, you could also try contacting the developers, 4A Games. Contact details for them can be found here: http://www.4a-games.com/contact.html their email address is info@4a-games.com

If you use Twitter you can also try asking them there:

https://twitter.com/deepsilver
https://twitter.com/DSVolition
https://twitter.com/SaintsRow
https://twitter.com/metrovideogame

I have sent several emails to Deep Silver as well as two letters, the most recent being around the end of November. In addition I've tried contacting Volition and 4A Games using both the contact forms and email addresses listed on their respective websites. It's also worth asking about getting Saints Row IV and Gat Out Of Hell released here.

----- Contact details: Kalypso Media -----
(Tropico 5, , Vikings: Wolves of Midgard)

Contact details available (for US/UK/DE) via their website: http://www.kalypsomedia.com/
Twitter: https://twitter.com/kalypsomedia
https://twitter.com/El_Prez (for Tropico)

I have tried contacting Kalypso via email and by post, with no success:

- I tried sending an email to their general contact address but my mails were refused by their mail system with an automated message telling me the address was for general inquiries only and to contact support.
- So I tried sending an email to their support address instead and a little over a week later got a reply back saying that address was for support only & they could not help.
- I then tried sending an email to their business contact address but received a message delivery error.
- I sent a physical letter to them but never received a reply.
- More recently I also attempted emailing someone specific at Kalypso (Simon Hellwig, Global Managing Director). I have received no reply to that so far either but it's only been a few days & at least the mail didn't bounce this time.

Kalypso did however bring the Linux version of Dungeons 2 here a while ago, so there's hope for the others yet.

----- Contact details: Techland -----
(Dying Light)

Contact form at: http://company.techland.pl/contact
Support email address: support@techland.pl or pomoc@techland.pl
Twitter: https://twitter.com/TechlandGames

I sent Techland a message using the contact form on their website but I've had no reply so far. More recently I also sent an email to Techland's support address and they got back to me surprisingly quickly, however they were unable to help. It might be best to try asking using Twitter. There is also a thread on their forums that might be a good place to bring this issue up: http://forum.techland.pl/topic/18-ideas-and-feature-requests-for-dying-light-developers/

As for some other games missing their Linux versions here:

- Age of Wonders 3 seems like a lost cause as the developers blamed their use of the Steam Runtime for not being able to bring AoW3 here (which makes no sense because the Steam Runtime is little more than a collection of libraries from Ubuntu packaged with a start script to make things use those over the system's provided libraries). Still, it can't hurt to keep trying.

- The Linux version of Q.U.B.E. was rejected by GOG for some reason, something to do with Steamworks integration... but my testing of the Steam version shows it to work no differently to the many other games that use the same build for both Steam & DRM-free releases, with it running just fine without needing or interacting with Steam unless it's run through Steam. The Windows version works in exactly the same way, with GOG's build being identical to the Steam version - I'm not sure how or why this could be considered an issue for Linux but not for Windows.

- A newly updated Linux build of Dust: An Elysian Tail was submitted to GOG about 3 or 4 months ago, but there is some unspecified "red tape" holding its release up and there's no other information than that available about it. No idea what's going on there :/ Fez was in a similar situation but that was added a little while ago, so hopefully it won't be much longer for Dust now.

the linux version of Albion is a unofficial, fan-made port as well

that list really is depressingly long . ..

Thanks, I didn't know GOG wiki is still a thing. I've red before registrations were closed? I thought more about may be GamingOnLinux wiki or PCGaming wiki . Both are open for registration.

* https://www.gamingonlinux.com/wiki/
* http://pcgamingwiki.com

Making a page there will allow others to expand / contribute. GamingOnLinux would be probably more focused, since the site tries to advance Linux gaming in general, and missing ports is a major topic there.
