If I have Linux Mint on sda5 and Windows 7 on sda1 and I want to replace, win with Ubuntu, how should I proceed in order to be able, after the Ubuntu install, to dual boot between Mint and Ubuntu - install Ubuntu + its boot loader and hope it will detect Mint or is there a way for the grub, that Mint installed, to auto pick up the new Ubuntu, if I don't install a boot loader during the Ubuntu install?

Both can work.
Just make sure that the package 'os-prober' is installed on the system that generates the GRUB you will be using.

I've Downloaded Linux Mint 17.3 over the weekend, and burned it to DVD tonight, currently booted on the Live DVD think of installing it, but a bit hesitant :D

...though I'm not really sure if I'm the target of this giveaway, since I'm already a big enough Linux user (exclusively since 2005) that I need no incentive and, instead, get others to try it these days:

1. My mother uses Lubuntu exclusively

2. One of my younger brothers dual-boots between Windows 7 and Kubuntu with a preference for statying in Linux despite being half artist, half gamer.

3. My other brother is interested in dual-booting next time he has time to reinstall his machine

4. When time permits, I refurbish old (mobo can't take more than 2GiB RAM) PCs with Lubuntu, print out a Getting Started guide of my own design, and donate them to the needy. (The guide is slightly out of date at the moment because I've been so busy over the last six months preparing to graduate.)
