The major issue I have with the launcher is that there isn't any functional offline-mode, nor will there be any according to their road map, as they're pretty much locked into the current **pseudo offline mode and are just going to tweak the UI...

**You cannot open the launcher if your Ethernet cord is unplugged from your modem, you need to be connected in order to be able to use the offline mode; which defeats the entire purpose of an offline mode! Hell, this is worse than steam as once your game's authenticated, you no longer need the internet to launch your games!

Fuck, even origin/uplay allows you access to your library without requiring an Internet connection!
Well, I would never go near Steam again, and they have one or two games that I would like ... unless GOG get them first.

Will watch from afar for now

Well, that Outer World is a one year exclusive to Epic Game store sucks but when It'll come to gog.com, it will hopefully mostly bug free. So, yes, I can see something positive in this.

Also people won't have reason to complain about patches :D
You know what game that suited EPIC the most and will bring on mass amount of migrants from jilted GOG base?

GRIMOIRE

Can't believe Sweeney overlooked this :P
Okay, disappointing thread. Expected better.

Garrison72: Epic bad. GoG good.

This.
Feck Epic Fail Store
Skybound Games is the one that really ticks me off.

The Walking Dead Final Season being an EGS exclusive when I own all the Telltale games here on GOG is enough to make me stay FAR away from anything that has a SkyBound logo on it.

Yes, that includes comics and mobile games, they've completely lost me as a customer across ALL their platforms and media types by EGS exclusivity.
"Metro: Exodus managed to put up some impressive sales numbers despite the widespread backlash against Deep Silver's decision to move Metro: Exodus from Steam to the Epic Games Store and cries of "no steam, no sale". The game sold 2.5 times as much as its predecessor, Metro: Last Light did on Steam. As a test case it's good news for Epic and the developers itching to move off of Steam.

So not only did Metro: Exodus make more money selling on Epic, Deep Silver got to keep a significantly larger chunk of that money. Valve takes a baseline 30% cut of all Steam sales, with that number dropping as low as 20% for top earners. Epic, on the other hand, takes only 12%, and also throws in the Unreal Engine license for free if a developer chooses to use it. If you want to know why developers are interested in the Epic Games Store, that's why."

I must say, I have not taken the time to browse the epic game store before, but it is not bad. it lacks a lot of functionality, but it looks like it is well curated. I have just seen several games I was not aware of before that I now want, such as Operencia: The stolen sun, Onward To Adventure, Outward and Close to the sun

The Epic Store doesn't even have Epic Pinball, talk about false advertising. >:(
(I just copypasted this from the Outer Worlds thread)

Epic Game Store, Spyware, Tracking, and You

https://www.game-debate.com/news/26760/epic-games-launcher-is-farming-steam-user-data-friends-lists-and-played-games

If it's too shiny it's usually just that on the outside (and the client is like baby with colic and and abstinences from mother's crack addictions). This is even more shady than having DRM on a game, at least you know about the DRM. And now it seems they're trying to cover their tracks.

Besides, too many cooks in the kitchen makes a hell of a chaos ;)
