Apparently, to get around gog's new fraud protection, some key resellers are buying gog codes on hacked accounts. And the original owners still have access to said accounts, and to the new game codes. If the above victim(?) is correct, his weak password was responsible-- and hackers are bruteforcing accounts for this purpose.
So should I change my password to "yes" or "good"?
