Is there a way to turn this icon off? It's not very useful when it's stuck at "99+." Also, a lot of people just use the "On sale now / Discounted" section of the website to look for sales instead.

Timboli: Just another instance of GOG treating us like morons again. Not as intrusive and stupid as their wishlist popup maybe, but has the same dumb mentality behind it.
Hmmm....

If i were to program it...

1) You'd opt in to it. Maybe it dings once to let you know it exists, but then you have to actually accept it. Otherwise the gold star but not being annoying would be enough to say there's something there. Or even opt out of that star being there at all.

2) Sort the wishlist accordingly. First items on sale and best value, second alphabetically, along with 'add to cart' button.

Personally other than my personal Gripes with GoG, there's a ton of things i'd change n the site, like having to opt-in to see NSFW related games, removing games you already have in your library, if DLC shows up or not as options, fixing the 'expired' codes to be marked from 'Not Redeemed' to 'Expired', and then a month later self-removing for being useless (or just hidden period as they just get in the way in the history).

NuffCatnip: 99+ BUY THEM NOW!!!!
At least that is my interpretation.
Either this addition gets removed or I'll have to empty my wishlist. :/

Ancient-Red-Dragon: ...except that doing that is not actually going to help you guys at all.

Instead, once you do that, then you will just be in the same boat as me as regards to that matter: probably then, just like mine is, your empty wishlist will result in you having a neon orange square around the number "1," being stuck permanently next to the heart icon.
True enought, didn't think about that. I might have to block that element then. :)
I appreciate GOG trying new things, but yeah I don't like it.

edit: jpolgesek said on the Discord they're rolling it back for now.

And, at least for me it's now gone.
First blinked in red, then the whole element disappeared.

Edit: spoke too soon. It's still there, it just doesn't show in certain places. Now highlit in red though, rather than orange.
The wrong count it displays remains the same.

Edit2: curious, gone again.

Ice_Mage: uBlock Origin filter if you want to remove the icon:
gog.com##.menu-tray > .menu-wishlist
Works for my, thanks. :-)

We've removed the wishlist icon from the menu and are working on a fix (as having it highlighted all the time was definitely not our goal :D)

(due to cache it might take ~15 minutes to fully disappear)

After the now useless purple notification point is permanently displayed, is there also a wish list notice that is just as useless?

Instead of implementing new functions, it would really be advisable to get all the bugs under control first.

The thread creator neumi5694 has already described it quite correctly:

"You are still better off by just visiting the "store" page, list all games and apply your filters (show only games on my wishlisst, only show discounted) and sorting there. At least that page works - most of the time, until it forgets your filter, then you need to click it again."

ReynardFox: Have you ever considered fixing the actually broken stuff instead of tacking on half-assed, redundant things like this?

mqstout: Hey, they also did post that they simultaneously fixed the perpetual purple notifications dot (which appears to be accurate).
Wait. For real now? That's hard to believe given how long this bug existed now .... what's next? GOGmixes?

Darvond: I'm sure that'd be great for the five people who can still access myrecentposts; which isn't me.
That page not working for anyone is news to me. Yes, it's slow (which is probably at GOG's computationally wasteful expense?). It's my primary way of using the forums.
Thanks! It was quite annoying but the reaction has been fast.

I am glad that gog make changes and improve the store but not all changes are of the taste of all people.

It's long been the bane of many elder members. Slow would be nicer than it timing out each time.

I think it's been years at this point since it opened for me to anything but the gogbear doing his Atlas Misconstrued pose. Would be nice to have that fixed, but unfortunately adding and removing redundant icons clearly has higher priority.

As if a switch had been turned, as if an eye had been blinked, as if some phantom force in the universe had made a move eons beyond our comprehension, suddenly, there was no trail! There was no giant, no monster, no thing called "new wishlist icon " to be followed. There was nothing in the tunnel but the puzzled men of courage, who suddenly found themselves alone with shadows and darkness!
