laser_eyes: This is going to be a very long list. Do you know how many companies do business in China? If you intend to boycott every company that does business in China then you can start by switching off your computer and never using it again. Because Microsoft does a hell of a lot of business here and like every company that does business in China it obeys the orders of the Chinese government.
I said this in another thread but let me make it clear again. The Chinese Communist Party is in complete control in China. The CCP is a ruthless authoritarian government. They tolerate no dissent nor even the slightest criticism. If you think Trump had a thin skin then you ain't seen nothin. The CCP will punish any person or company for the slightest offence, even if unintentional. The reality is no company can do business in China without following the dictates of the CCP.
China is a huge market and the government knows it. They know how much power they have and they are not afraid to use it.
If you want to pass a purity test of not using any company's product or having anything to do with any company that is prepared to give in to the CCP then you might as well live in a cave. It would be a much shorter list of telling you which company's products you can use. The only ones I can think of that have refused to give in to the CCP are Google and The New York Times, both of which were punished by being banned in China. Virtually every large company does business in China.
Oh, by the way, if you refuse to buy games on gog, don't think you can go to Steam. Steam has already sold itself to the Chinese government. You can buy games on Steam buy you can't use the Steam forums. The Steam forums are on a different web address and are blocked in China. But did Steam refuse to do business in China because of that? Of course not! Steam is here in China and tolerates the actions of the government. So not Gog or STeam for you.
Yes, I am aware of all that. I'm also very aware that even the smallest piece of plastic I buy is made in China, so I cannot possibly ever completely boycott China. That's true.
HOWEVER, I can AND WILL make a stand when Western companies not only buckle to China, but also outright blatantly insult their customers by lying to them, as if we're all retarded.
So no, no Disney, no Marvel, no Blizzard, no Apple, no Epic, none of those for me, thanks.
They're not necessary. In fact, they're so not necessary, I won't even pirate their stuff.
As for the rest, I do try to keep consumerism to a minimum. Hell, I don't even use credit. I do what I can, bro.
