Had that poster on steam specified which titles they were after so that we could look as those titles pricing history and that post could turn out to be relevant, or not, in which concerns the issue raised here by the op.

The point is not that every game should be discounted on every event or sale, that every game should be discounted when "we" expect them to be discounted, the point is a roster of games on gog's storefront that price wise are absolute monoliths without any good explanation as to why.

Personally i'm infinitely more interested in an explanation than in an actual discount for this or that title.

In the absence of a proper one i'm going to go with the one that makes sense to me, some games are dropped on gog merely for increased exposure but the folks who drop them here want to see that exposure materialized in "elsewhere" sales, thus the obvious, clear neglect that is in truth no more than an incentive for folks to and get them "elsewhere". And it works too because even though many folks on gog are willing to go a tad above par for the DRM-Free perk very few will be willing to take a knife to the back for it.

And what did they say? Do they say anything at all?

Lets be honest, not in all cases Publisher and/or Developer is the problem. In many cases you are exatly the problem, not exactly you as a part og gog co. but gog itself. When there is a problem with price tags fo the games/DLCs that costs a couple of bucks but in gog store their cost - about a couple of hundred $. If there is a broken links in the news about game release - its your fail. If you are posting about new game that was released but thereis no such game in the store - it is ypur fault. And there are much more of such things that you need to fix.

The problem simply is: GoG will not be, not even in the slightest, competitive this way. So, sure those publishers can say "it is not selling well on GoG" but, to some extend they was forcing it.

So, "fair treatment" and some comparable price level plays a big role in marketing. Customers simply are, mostly, sensitive to the pricing, this is a proven fact.

Sure, DRM free is a bonus, some people will pay extra for it (me for example) but this is not the case for the majority, who is simply looking out... for "more game for the coins" without taking such things into consideration.

If you are unwilling or unable to pay the full price, that does not mean that everyone else should be deprived of the ability to buy this game DRM-FREE.

Same here. Well, yes. And what would that serve? That sends a message to GOG's other clients (dev/pub) that they have to discount their products on the platform at GOG's whim. It's their product ffs, they set the price. Don't like the price? Well, don't buy it. But don't demand for it to be delisted, as there might be others who really really want the game and are happy to pay the full price for it.

The matter is more complicated than this: GoG, dependable on the contract (which can be pretty individual) will have to pay a certain amount of cash to the publisher in advance... kinda a "certain cash volume handed out without a single game sold at this point". In this case it would be fair to say "GoG can rule the price and how it will be sold", but this is not necessarily the case. The publishers may still have the right to set up the prices or price cuts... and if the difference vs. other platforms, is to big... it will put GoG at a high disadvantage. It would be okay if a certain publisher is ONLY getting the cash he actually got with the sales which has been made, but in many term it does not work like this.

I do lack any accurate insight on how those contracts has been done, but it totally depends on the contracts and in some cases it can become problematic to GoG and in the end simply a disadvantage to them. To the users... i can not say because some of them are willing to pay any price for DRM free and others simply not, so it is a very individual thing. However, with a chance of well over 90% a user is not paying a way higher price than on another platform, because the majority is not having Gabe Newells moneybag, and if so... they will still not pay more because those who are wealthy will watch their bank account even more closely than any other person... with the usual exceptions.

Still, in general publishers got about the same price level and price cuts on any platform, so this issue is not very wide spread and not a major concern.

Another thing i have to add is the sometimes, actually almost always, very high regional pricing differences and even CDPR is not different than the others, they are part of this whole marketing circus.

So, obviously, in certain regions some users are automatically "strong providers" even with a heavy discount; with my country basically "in the lead", i see no pricier region. I can not say if this is "good or bad" but... at least thanks for considering me and us "the true wealth of planet earth"... at least we are working hard in order to build a golden palace soon and what else. I still am not driving a 80 000 or what else CHF BMW°° car with 5000 CHF repairs a year because i just do not enjoy a cash grab... i appreciate the "real value" of things, no matter how much coins i may able to throw away. °°Not even if i got Elon Musks wallet i would get me one, it is just a bad car. I would get me a fully rebuild, handmade, Toyota Supra (not a Tesla, sorry Musk)... with a lot of horsepower, if i really may have way to much cash to spare. Additionally i am buying games on a online marketplace... which needs obviously the biggest wallet.

CIS dollar is basically a collection of states with a enforced "normalized currency" including Russia, so they are not anymore handled as a single state.

On GoG it is more or less this price but without any price cut. In worst case, for my country, it means 39.99 CHF (no joke)... and "in the best case, with price cut" it means 3.10 CHF, which is 12.9 times lower.

Obviously, with such a big difference... i guess no secret many people, even if they enjoy DRM free... are rather getting the cheaper version and if required... trying to circumvent the DRM (using Goldberg or whatelse).
