PixelBoy: (emphasis added)

Which games are we talking about?

seppelfred: I'm not talkiing about their older titles like Bone or Sam & max.

But TWD 1,2, 400 Days and Michonne are phoning home. I haven't played other newer titles.
They are phoning home but they don't need to. I managed to play all of them offline.

Good to know. Thanks!

PixelBoy: If you mean those from Telltale's own store, they actually may refuse to run at all - there's some conflicting information about this.
If you bought from Telltale directly:
You need to backup the "ttcd.prop" file (in the documents folder where your savegames are) after your first login and you are fine in offline mode as well.
In the case of The Walking Dead 1 you need to export the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Telltale Games\Launcher
which is your saved login data.

So, Walking Dead Final Season is no more?
This is sad news, i love the walking dead games and was waiting for the new season to be complete so i can add game to my collection...also sad when a game company falls into bad times due to the peeps at top,

i hope this will not effect our games since their servers going sunset etc, also hope the staff will be able to find jobs and do what they love on future projects, the designers who do what they love should never loose their art from bad decisions at the top..

That's how it looks.
At least we'll know more this week about it... No matter what I would like to grab the few titles I'm missing.

I would have grabbed them all during the sale if i knew this was happening.
I'm sad to see them go. And also sad that they won't finish TWD.
Given the popularity of the WD series I wouldn't be suprised if someone swooped in and bought the intelectual property rights, resurecting the franchise for a quick buck or two. I'm suprised Bethesda/Zenimax hasn't gotten into the mix. they seem to be the big monopoly now days exceeding EA and others with their aquisition of companies and IP (intelectual Property).

Some people were putting their money on Microsoft. They used Minecraft already and MS has plenty of other properties that could be TTified.
I feel like Telltale stopped making games that people wanted to play, in favor of games that people watch other people playing, as for awhile, Telltale games were quite popular on the Youtube LP circuit, almost to a degree that it seems like maybe a design choice was made to be friendly towards youtubers.

If so, I could see how that might bite them square in the hindquarters when it comes to actual sales.

PixelBoy: Personally, I gave up my hopes of seeing Jurassic Park DRM-free, so I did yesterday, for the very first time in my life, buy a Steam game key from a third party reseller. I guess you can once in your life spend 99 cents like that?
At least I have some kind of DRM infected copy of that now, if the games get pulled entirely.

MarkoH01: Well Jurassic Park was DRM-free on the Telltale store when it was still available. Don't know if the Steam version is also runnavble without Steam though.
retail box pc version in France jurassic park is drm free. other country drm free also for the retail box?

I cannot tell you if the retail box is DRM-free in other countries. I only own the digital version which I bough directly on their web page.

That's a genereal problem if your games are good in the storytelling department but lack any engaging gameplay. You could as well watch someone else play them with no loss...

If this thinking is correct (and I know that you are not alone with your opinion) all so called Walking Simulators would have been problematic regarding sales but if I look at Firewatch i.e. that is not the case afaik.

Imo - even with TTG stories it is still something different to experience such things by yourself.

Somebody posted a link in this very thread that expains TTGs situation pretty good. The main probelm was the sudden success with TWD. After this they grew too fast and the management wanted to be on the "safe" side and since TWD worked so well in general people were more or less forced to create the same game again and again even though several people were against it. (It's much more complicated but it is written detailed in the link).

Edit: Here it is.
