I have no reason to hate anybody for his beliefs.
I was merely stating that i refuse the concept of judging someone as inherently evil just because he is an atheist or agnosticist. In fact, all the atheists i know are pretty altruistic and genuinely nice people.

Those are the long-term consequences of consumerism and show that our society is facing an age of decadence.

If I had to sum up this place with one word, it would be: variety

From the landscape to the architecture, foods, dialects, attitudes, weather, habits, slang, and more, there is a wide variety from one end to the other. And that doesn't count government stuff, which can also vary quite a bit.

That's why I'm not fond of generalizing by nationality. Yes, we're Americans, but I don't think that implies a whole lot beyond the citizenship stuff. It certainly doesn't mean that people in New Mexico are just like those in New York.

I was actually just talking about that in a different country-trait thread. Really, nearly every state/region here IS like its own country.

In order to be more positive:
We have excellent beer for at least since the middle ages, everybody in the world seems to agree on this and having tested many brands from all around the world, I still do too.
Even the alcohol free beer here is great (depending on the brand of course).

What is less well known is, that Germany has some of the oldest and diverse documented martial arts in the world, even most Germans don't know anything about it and since they usually don't care for their own culture or straight out despise it, those martial arts are actually more often revived / kept alive by Americans, Czechs and Polaks, although especcially the latter two share a common culture with Germans anyway.

Many different brands around here, not only the "Pils" kind but also "Hefeweizen".
Some are really good and since I completely stopped drinking alcohol many years ago, I'm quite happy about that.
Athletes drink it too, because it's very isotonic without the negative effects of the alcohol.

XD Go ahead and make the joke. :D I am big on telling people I'm sober because I fucking hate being sober and I want everyone to know it! :P When I go through hell I want the recognition. XD

That's the truth of it, and it extends to all of those different ways. I can safely lump my area (Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and the UP) together fairly well but you go much beyond that and there are distinct defining differences. And even with that, the rural areas are quite a bit different from the city areas.

And that's a good thing, because it's possible to find a place where one fits without having to cross national borders. But it also makes it really difficult to talk about this country as a monolithic thing, because that's not at all what it's like.
