Lifthrasil: But I do agree with reliq that it is a problem that GOG doesn't even warn their users about games that collect data.
I don't consider it a problem (because I can block it) - but I agree that it would be an improvement if GOG mentioned it on the game cards.

its gms-based game. Gamemaker, since recently, feature some optional telemetry, enabled in editor by default (to uncheck this box or nope - depend on developer).

Didnt know about this one including it, however. Did you encounter it on windows or linux (since linux port was crowdsourced by other team) build?

I forgot to thank Gekko_Dekko for the list he made, it has been helpful for me so far
I always check if the bottom of the game page to see if the game has telemetry
Very helpful
There's so much undisclosed online crap in games / software these days that the days of "Default Allow Outbound Connection + Blacklist" bad apps / games Firewall rules are long over. The only sane thing to do now is change the Firewall Settings to "Default Block Outbound Connection + Whitelist" of specifically permitting the few applications you do want talking to the net.

Gekko_Dekko: and here we go again. If some shady companies add google metrics to their site - it doesnt mean that everybody should do so. If we wont worry about some games sending something somewere - tomorrow each game will be packed with spyware (there was already some attempts - google for redshell), adware and crypto miners.
I don't say that everybody should add telemetrics to their products. What I say is that almost everybody does so. Right now we can't prevent it, but I agree that we should be informed of what kind of information is sent. I heard about redshell-gate. I'm not glad that this software was used without a permission from the users. But please remember that there is no equal sign between ordinary telemetry and spyware.

thanks! I didnt maintain this list for a while, so be carefull - not everything outside of it is safe to use without firewall (for example - recent re-release of Shadows was made on unity)

Add King of Fighters too to the list if you can, the UM versions have the galaxy.dll file, I think all falcom games have it too
Caladrius Blaze too

all games with galaxy features (aside from cloud saves and overlay) has galaxy.dll - said above. Thats the reason, why I've stopped to maintain my list, actually - I felt like, at this rate, I will need to add EVERY SINGLE GAME to it (or, atleast - every new game) :/

Everything should be 'safe' with a VPN.

thanks! When it comes to something like that, each voice matters
Unity seems to use telemetry i can see all files cause i am always admin and i was backing up gameprofiles ( save date from played games) which are usually dumped in the

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\

3 large folders reside in this one and they are loaded with all kinds of cached files, games, settings , hiscores and also nasty collected user login name info , thats the user you log in with, with the OS name , nr revision, bits memory etc etc etc ( propabaly even the IP which is NOT needed for them to know, ( imo they dont have to collect anything cause i HATE telemetry).

Anyway, i Googled for a solution to block the Unity files using the windows firewall, (already blocked some games and they cant send anything :D), BUT evil Unity seems to have a ball doing so and succeeding at it aswell...
ofcourse 1,000,000,0000 results so no way in this life i will be able to read all the results :(✖﹏✖)

So it has to be done one by one , (⊙﹏⊙) unless the game use the games .exe to do the nasty job, to send the data, i can try blocking it using the windows firewall, but if they can send data using the unitplayer.dll file its no go, you cannot block a .dll file ....

full path of the wherabouts of the Unity collected data:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow

So anyone knows of a working way to block those evil Unity ..... to stop the ET phone home stuff?

edit: blocked the files in the hostfile, archived the analytics in a rar archive then deleted the folders, now lets see if they comeback :D

Probably not a good idea to spill over my original post here, but since Gekko_Dekko pointed me here.

This is what happens, if I start Fallout: New Vegas on WIndows installed from offline installers without Galaxy installed.

What you are looking at is a status message about being unable to start GOGs GalaxyService being send to GOGs servers unencrypted.

[RemovedMyHostname].56129 > 194.110.240.210.syslog: [udp sum ok] SYSLOG, length: 354

Msg: 1 2019-12-05T14:11:37.826164+00:00 [Removed] galaxy e254a542 galaxy1 - (1.100.2.0, 50144443643664262) [GalaxyTranslator] InitCommon: clientID=[Removed] clientSecret=[Removed] configFilePath=., galaxyPeerPath=, throwExceptions=1: error=Gog Error: RuntimeError: Could not start GalaxyService

If Galaxy is installed, it gets worse, even if Galaxy is not started.
