Love to see how they will enforce this....
Steam doesnt seem to have a physical storefront in Oz.Neither does GOG. How will the govt enforce digital pricing? (a few friends brought this up a few years ago...)

Starmaker: It's super fucking clear. If you try to sell or give away copies of a game you've bought a license for, you go to jail. It's enforceable because it's been enforced and people around the globe went to jail.

@Starmaker, I was talking about EULAs, many of which strip you of basic consumer rights, with no redress. You seem to conflate EULAs with copyright. EULAs =/= copyright, and have little to do with it. I simply refuse to accept that I have no consumer rights where software is concerned.

Maighstir: You are getting a license to play the game regardless which store you use, you don't actually own the game on GOG either (you own your copy of the license that says you can play it).

If they are taxing us in Australia that means we are protected by Australian consumer protection laws, so there goes gog's refund policy and such...LOL good luck with that.

I remember a few years ago that it was cheaper to import games from UK than to buy locally at EBGames. Still I am thankful for EBGames since they stocked budget edition of PC classics (RCT Complete, Baldur's Gate series) before GOG was a thing.

You can! Er... sort of. Just edit the post and change it to something intended as deadpan dark subtle humour using a topic that is highly controversial and many people are rather sensitive about. The closer the given context is to a 50/50 divide in opinion about it in the community, or 33/33/33, the more effective it will be at getting other people to delete your post.

If you can't think of anything, just PM PewDiePie, he keeps a notepad on him at all times with ideas. :)

Still wondering how it can be enforced if GOG just ignores them (which i hope they do. doesnt benefit GOG customers nor GOG -- in fact would be a negative..)

Sorry, that's not an arbitrary decision on Steam's part, that's how much VAT is in Serbia. If it's any consolation, it's already included in the prices you pay on GOG.

I'm no lawyer, but I don't think GOG can simply ignore your laws, if they apply to them. I don't know the specifics, and didn't read the law Bigs linked to, but if it covers (on-line) cross-border sales of digital goods, it may well apply to GOG (no physical presence required in this case). If the law applies to them, they will comply, as I'm willing to bet that GOG won't take the risk of getting in trouble with authorities.

It's okay, i barely ever buy anything on Steam. GOG is my #1 place for games.
