HypersomniacLive: I'd take The Body Changer and offer Nightmares from the Deep: The Cursed Heart (Steam).

DyNaer: i'll take Nightmare from the Deep and left Pressure (Steam)
Promise I am not shamelessly bumping, but I'd like to get Pressure and I can't PM OP. In it's place, I leave an aptly titled number by Queen

Oh, and also Crysis 2 Max Ed on steam (might be origin, fyi) because reasons.

The list contains four keys that I offered 7-10 days ago and that didn't generate any interest. Should I remove them to make the list shorter? I wouldn't mind leaving them here, but since apparantly noone wants them and people are complaining about the list getting too long, feel free to throw them out ... (In case it matters, I didn't take anything for them in return.)

The games in question are: Dark Scavenger, Redshirt, Soulcaster 1&2, Will Fight for Food.

i think it will run eventually into more of this, that there will be a list of games that people not so much want.
Maybe people can agree if that happens that there will be a giveaway done with those leftover keys.

For your case it's different as you didn't take anything.

Leroux:
Up to you :] If it's after five days, then no worries, do as you like.
avatar
RWarehall: I apologize for even bringing it up. Merely an observation. It's under control for now, I was just surprised to see more people offering games (without taking one) with as many as are up. The simple solution for when it becomes a problem would be to cap game offers unless someone takes a game.

Momo1991: True but the spirit of this thread was a kind of ninja-thread offshoot. Here when gifters leave games without taking any, they can be assured that the taker must give back something in return.

Plus, here's the deal as posted in the OP - after five days (which I personally feel is too short), a gifter may delete their gift if there are no takers.
I agree.
And what is to prevent someone to re-offer their game over and over if it is unwated or everyone all ready owns it, sort of deal?

I say if someone doesn't want to bother holding onto a game they offer at a later date, to pm it to a trusted regular of this thread to give out on their behalf.

Redfern: Yeah, but its just looks like topicstarter dont like situation when someone takes "good stuff" and leaves some "junk". OFC its subjective, i believe there is a lot people who like 99 levels to hell more, but i see where is coming from.
avatar
Leroux: Oh, I can see it too. I think it's not so much about the subjective value of a game but about the actual cost - since the 99 Levels to Hell key might be something surplus from a cheap bundle that lots of people bought for pocket change, while a GOG key for NWN is actually a quite generous gift and not all that common. I just hadn't thought about comparing offers in a giveaway before, but I guess fair is fair if the OP wants to avoid people exploiting it. :)

cmdr_flashheart: ~snip~

Leroux: Understood. I think I'll just drop it then, for the sake of fairness. Anyway, Redshirt (Steam) is available in either case, for anyone interested! :)
I'll put up Aveyond: Lord of Twilight (Steam) for Redshirt (Steam). That is if you want love for one of your games.

Seriously, gbaz, give it a rest - so keys should be PM'd or put in a GA? How complicated should this get? And who should hold onto these "extra, un-wanted gifts"? You? Cmdr_flasheart? And don't even look at me ....

Can we just deal with any theoretical scammers if and when they show up and start gifting the same unwanted code over and over again?

Here's my thought KISS - keep it simple ;-p
I really like the idea of this thread, but I feel like it has kind of become a steam code trading post. I was excited for this because it can be hard to find trades for GOG codes, and that is my preferred service. I put forward a GOG game and I am looking for a GOG game. I think if no GOG games show up in the next couple of days I will pretty much abandon this thread.

Just my two cents and experience here. For what it is worth.

Thanks for the "kiss" tip, should help me more in the future and make life more pleasant.

Wrong, even without any theoretical scammers you still end up with a list of keys noone wants.
I put in games that i thought someone would have wanted, not something someone didn't want, but noone claimed them so far. Also alot of keys put on offer are "cheaper" games often from bundles, with that makes it alot of people already have them. Some might do it on purpose, but some might as well have the best intentions, also define something unwanted upfront.
It's just not that simple, putting them in a giveaway and least you gave the keys away, and it complies with taking some and giving some.

I think everything is working nice, but I'm going to ask just one thing though, to the people updating the list:

Please wait until the person have received what they "took" before updating/adding to the list what they offered in return.

I'm saying this because my last offered/replacing game was already added to the list twice, even when I haven't received an answer yet from the person I was "taking" the game from.

Thanks.

Well, there's a reason why GOG codes are harder to come by than Steam codes. And you probably shouldn't have offered something here with the hope of getting something of equal worth in return, as this was conceived as a giveaway with a twist and not as a trading thread (for which Classifieds is better suited). Granted, the lines are somewhat blurry, but still. The idea is not to expect something for what you give away, but to pay it forward and give away something for what you generously receive. Since you didn't take anything yet, I think it would be perfectly fair for you to withdraw your GOG game again, in case you regret offering it.
To be fair, Celton88 is also talking about Witcher codes. I couldn't give a code away in February and have failed to give one away in my current giveaway. I doubt anyone will give a GoG game in return for that. Not only has that game been given out for free, it has also been heavily discounted many times in the past. It's value really is about equivalent to a cheap bundle gift.
