snowkatt: ill wait for the actual game to be released before getting excited about it

fronzelneekburm: They'll release the demo tomorrow. Yes, supposedly even for us gog plebes!
actual game
not the demo

Chacranajxy: I suppose you don't care about the original playing like shit, either, then?
At least i don't have to spend 100000 hungarian forints on new hardware parts to run the original game on minimum settings .

Ricky_Bobby: It's too shiny and colorful. I wanted something that looks really dark and grim. This ain't it. I'll pass on this.
On the other hand, I dig the new visuals. I think they compliment the original design since it wasn't dark or grim either. The requirements are something to be considered though and seeing that I don't have the horsepower that is needed to enjoy the game even on the low settings, by the time I'll upgrade my system the game will be classic. :P

In any case, I'm super happy for the remake and I hope it'll make new fans since i believe that every gamer should play the System Shock games!
Downloading the demo now (from GOG). :)

I rarely get so excited about a new game or especially a demo that I want to try it out right away, but this is such a case. Even after seeing that video, I want to feel how true it is to the original, which I love.

EDIT: My PC (laptop) meets only the minimum requirements though or even below them, so we will see how it runs... I'm fine running it in a lower resolution like 1280x720, as long as e.g. all the text is readable in the game.

It will be interesting to hear what you have to say about it. Did you play it when it was released and how do you think the original compares to the sequel?

Downloading the demo now too.

Ricky_Bobby: Hm, I don't like the visuals at all, it makes me think of Borderlands, Overwatch and other "Disney Club" shooters.

Well the original was colorful af and had some snazzy cyberpunk tunes so... ya can't say they aren't being faithful! :/

Can't say I get people who think colors are for babies. If you haven't noticed, the real world is filled with color. Heck, animals use color: Some cuttlefish generate a spectrum of color to paralyze prey, chameleons blend in to launch surprise attacks against mice and such, while butterflies go to the reaper because their coat doesn't match whatever flora they landed upon. Beware anything that possesses needles and a colored hide. Don't eat anything that has the wrong color.

Color is the messenger of death.

I'm betting on sarcasm. Who is with me?

Yes they were colorful, I fully agree with that. However the filter they are using is too shiny for my taste, and the colour contrast too strong.

Granted we have only seen a small part of the game, for all I know the rest could be like Alien Isolation or Outlast.
The game is also far from finished, so there's that of-course.

Then there's the confusion as to whether this is a remaster or a remake, even the developers seem unsure.
Some journalists call it a reboot (Polygon) while others call it a remaster (Kotaku). Yet a reboot is not the same as a remaster. I assumed the former, which triggered my expectations, since the more popular horror-like games today are rather dark and gloomy.

It's a matter of taste as well. I've never been a big fan of the modern shiny game engines when it comes to FPS, the whole photorealism movement. I love the look of older games like Half-life 2, FEAR, Battlefield 2 and other mid-2000 FPS games. For me personally that's the Golden Age of FPS games.
Looks great. But it is next gen... It is even "heavier" than witcher 3...

Although it looks great and feels like a great game, it needs a very strong machine/system. Damn, had they not given priority to graphics like 1 + 2, i would totally jump in even in kickstarter. Damn! Will have to miss that one, too. Somehow, i seriously doubt i can get a better system anytime soon.

I expect the requirements to go down as the game approaches release. This is a pre-alpha demonstration, which means that there is many things that are unfinished and unpolished - including the optimization. In addition to this, it is rumored that the game might have support for VR equipment. If this is the case, then the listed hardware requirements may reflect the increased specifications that would be needed if you opt for a VR experience.

I pray you are right. I am DYING for this game to be complete and i buy it! System Shock SHOCKED me, ROCKED me, PARTIED with me hardcore, both 1 and 2, i loved it 10x times more than bioshock!!!

Demo for me is so slow and bad performance on my dated pc, though, that is practically unplayable. Still, i can't digest that this is heavier than Witcher 3. Damn.

Not quite. Witcher 3 flat out won't work on my gaming PC - let alone my laptop. The Shock demo actually works on my laptop. Just barely, but it works.

In my case, witcher 3 runs well enough to be playable easily, with a slight lag, noticeable but not game breaking of a deal. But this demo was so slow and laggy, that it is unplayable, practically, for me.

Especially the first combat was a torment. That robot whacked almost all my life away and my laggy controls made targeting next to impossible!

They seem to be making a really good job with the sound work which is first step towards an immersive experience. As for the gameplay it's probably too early to judge but looks solid.
