Yeah, didn't she take over Rebecca Siddons through a cybernetic implant in order to survive her second death? SHODAN's doing that to her is just like what she does to Cantor (Infinite's s name for the hacker) in the final boss of System Shock 1, if you fail to kill SHODAN in time.
Starbreeze sells back ”System Shock 3” publishing rights to OtherSide Entertainment

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (February 11, 2019) – Starbreeze and OtherSide Entertainment have mutually agreed to sell back the publishing rights to OtherSide Entertainment for “System Shock 3”. Starbreeze expects to be fully reimbursed for costs the company has had in connection with development of the game.

Starbreeze acquired the publishing rights for “System Shock 3” in 2017 and has since then partly financed the development of the game. The title owner OtherSide Entertainment and Starbreeze have now reached an agreement whereby Starbreeze returns the publishing rights for the game to OtherSide and will be able to recoup the development costs.

“I believe this is the best solution for us, although it is sad that we cannot complete the project with OtherSide. System Shock 3 is a fantastic title developed in cooperation with the industry legend Warren Spector and I am looking forward to seeing the game released”, said Mikael Nermark, acting CEO Starbreeze AB.

As previously announced, Starbreeze will focus on its core business of games development and publishing. Starbreeze holds publishing titles for “Psychonauts 2” and “Ten Crowns”.

Don't forget that these are the people who botched Underworld Ascendant. So don't get your hopes too high that the game will do the name any honor.
I'm waiting for the System Shock remake: http://systemshock.com/

Once that's released, I'll play through 1 and 2 again.

And only then I will complain about the lack of a third game in the series.
If at all.

Exactly. UA flew well under my radar until today, and I'm glad it did. While I would expect them to be more careful with this game (because another fail will doom their company) I also believe they don't have much money, and that is another way to doom their company.

I think I'll let System Shock 3 fly under my radar again. I'll check later how it turned out -- if it reaches GOG.

Telika: Unity ?
Yeah... I wouldn't even mind the game being exclusive on the Epic store for one year if it meant that they would at least use Unreal engine instead of unity...
Yes, but will gog "curators" reject it?

Place your bets!

I do find this "unity baad" mentality pretty interesting, as it isn't like UE4 is solely used by competent developers.

It's not that Unity is "bad", it's not bad, it's a pretty good engine for what it does and for a lot of project it's perfectly fine. It's just that for a game like System Shock 3 that is supposed to a first person game featuring bigger levels with hopefully a competent level of visual fidelity then an engine like UE4 would have been better suited.

It wasn't that bad, It had an interesting story though.
The real question is: what kind of immersion do people want in System Shock 3?
The immersion from Shock 1 with pausable vidlogs, mini-games inside HUDS, lean/crawl/bend body movement, battery pack, overloadable energy weapons, rocket skates, personal shields, etc?
Or the immersion from Shock 2 with better designed maps, player psi-powers, 3 optional character build choices, pis-power enemies, weapons degradation, etc?

It's not a bad engine, it's just used for a lot of lazy slapdash games so it became synonymous with them. "EA=devil", "Unity=bad engine".

I'm pretty sure Dusk was made in Unity.
