JamesBond007: Nope, certain rooms cannot be reached. This map (based on the PS1 version) shows the unreachable rooms (green). Shaft's room is an exception, however there is no way to permanently record it on the map.
Wouldn't it be possible to record the room by going out-of-bounds in another room (for example, by using Double Heart Refresh) and then reaching that spot in the out-of-bounds area?

(Failing that, there's always save corruption, and if you can't find a way to record that spot, there's arbitrary code execution, with which everything should be possible (including, in theory, loading another game into memory and executing it).)

Dude, Richter can't use Alucard's items - Double Heart Refresh glitch is impossible. Also, for some weird reason Shaft's room isn't even recorded as Alucard after beating Shaft and Dracula, but this can be remedied by warping out from battle with a Library Card.

Maybe there are some glitches which allows to get more rooms in the castle as Richter without save corruption, but AFAIK 195% is the max in the PS1 version.

Dude, sorry to be a little off topic, but has anyone tried the X68000 Castlevania one?
How's this compared to the Castlevia Chronicles on the psx?

As far as I know, the Original mode in Castlevania Chronicles is literally the X68000 Castlevania, without any changes, while the Arranged mode is the same game slightly remastered and improved.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: This single feature has to be the one and only DRAWBACK of this game, the negative, the con...
Symphony of the Night has no DRAWBACKS, no negatives, no cons... ;)

Thanks bro.
I'm asking this since the sound/midi board on those machines - especially the post 1990 ones - is quite amazing and, personally, didn't see any major discrepancies when playing Chronicles. But glad to know that the port matches the original. Much like the haunted castle ps2 port, I guess..

Why even bother with stats when Crissagrim exists? It almost feels like cheating.

Maxing the stats eh? I have managed to reach Lvl 99 (which is max) in Aria of Sorrow legit way. Still some monsters take more than one hit.

There's one major difference here.

In Aria of Sorrow, XP gains do not decrease as you level up. This means that it is actually feasible to reach level 99 in a reasonable amount of time (I've done it), as enemies never stop giving reasonable amounts of XP.

In Symphony of the Night, XP gains do decrease as you level up. In particular, once you reach level 70 or so, even Guardians, who normally give the most XP of any enemy, give only 1 XP. The situation is even worse in Harmony of Dissonance, where level 53 is the point where no non-boss enemy gives more than one XP, and even bosses give reduced (and eventually 1) XP at high levels.
I am back, thankfully i got some help in my serious predicament, so i am back in business! Sorry to keep you waiting!

Thanks for the map!

Nah... I got lost somewhere between Bloodlines, Unepic, Grim Dawn and Sotn! LoL!

Vythonaut: Symphony of the Night has no DRAWBACKS, no negatives, no cons... ;)
2 Drawbacks, friend! 1) Hard to get a perfect level up each and every time, much time consuming, too! 2) Rare items need ridiculous farming to drop; to get my Mablung Sword at last, i was farming from yesterday midnight to today almost midday (with various breaks for various house chores)!

Time consuming of such hilarious lengths is a serious drawback!!! This alone made me "loose every idea" (our local saying) about this game, under this scope!
Here is few more interesting facts about SOTN:

1. In the newer Japanese PS1 version, Richter's flame whip deals Fire/Hit damage (which actually deals more damage to Dracula at the beginning). In older Japanese PS1 version, all English versions and even the PSP version, the flame whip deals Holy/Hit damage, just like regular whip. I haven't tested the Saturn version. Because of this, I'm only able to get 12 Luck instead of 13 by defeating Dracula without subweapons (I'm not counting "under a minute" runs).

2. Save files from the English E3 demo version are compatible with the Japanese version of the full game - it is possible to use the latter version to bypass E3 version's Normal Mode limitations and complete the game. Alternatively (with enough luck), it is possible to complete the game in Special Mode by passing the dark tunnel in Catacombs in Bat form (without the Echo of Bat), getting the Library Card and escaping to the Library.

By the way, i just finished with 211.0%, but i still have some locked menus. What are the locked menus for? I got the cape color and the time one. But i lack 2 more... Also, why don't the last 2 bosses register in bestiary (shaft and master)?

Are you talking about the System menu? There are six options: Button settings, Cloak lining, Cloak color, Window color, Sound and Time attack. The first, fourth and fifth option should be unlocked by default. The second and third options are unlocked by purchasing Reverse and Joseph's cloaks from Librarian. Beating the game unlocks the last option. Sounds like one of your cloak options is locked, not two.

About last two bosses - Try this - Kill Shaft, then hit Dracula with a weapon but don't kill him. Instead, use a Library Card during the final battle.
Done and done! Now that i have collected all items, everything unlocks! The menus needed the Reverse Cloak and Joseph's cloak from Librarian! The time attack that you need to beat game once. The bestiary, which needs to teleport at librarian's during final boss fight (this also uncovers an extra 0,1% of map coverage)... Only thing now that is blank, is from time attack events, the meeting with death. And this, because i used luck mode and cheat death to keep items...

Sega Saturn though has one extra event more, than PS1. Since they are in Japanese, though, i cannot understand what the hell i did and it got recorded...

Now i only need to level familiars to max, level sword familiar and Muramasa, if i feel like it get 99 level for Alucard too and get all enemies drop both their special items, even if i have gathered each and every piece of equipment already, down to the very last food item (menus get full and they don't have any extra room).

Maria is very powerful, though, i am also doing a run on her... Those beasts are imbalanced. If instead of owl she had a phoenix and if turtle had black color instead of green, that would be real life occult symbolism of chinese astrology and the 4 guardians of the cardinal directions, the divine beasts.

Sega Saturn is better than PS1, at least in emulation, for another reason, too: The buttons aren't as many and chaotic as those of a PS1, they are fewer and easier to both map and use!
