I just noticed that the symbol for "Risen" in my library changed. What's the reason for this change? Does anybody know?

EDIT: So apparently there's some "update" (which also increases spec requirements). Meh, something I could do without. Apparently the German installers are unaffected though. Can't say I'm enthusiastic about Gog replacing entire installation files.

They also added achievements !
I'd say it's for parity with the recent console release.

The size of the updated English installer is much higher, than the original German version. Seems to be:

Personally, I've downloaded the original, while it is still possible.
I have not the game installed but comparing different language installers not all of them are updated apparently, only English and Polish. Or at least they are different in size and with a different patch name.

In the Steam info it is said that it updates the game at par with console version (didn't know there was a console version though)

It add thngs like vanilla x64 executable, adds gamepad support, adds dinput, patches the game fixing bugs etc... some graphical updates, qol and other things. And yes, probably requirements will be higher

Which is total bs, the old version ran just fine on my ancient laptop, the "updated" one won't.
I've downloaded the old installation files anyway, but still, I don't like Gog changing installers to versions that some (many?) users won't be able to run anymore. Not everybody is willing or able to buy new hardware every few years.

Gudadantza:
Its also introduced tonnes of new bugs and a godawful control scheme for controller.

If i is true probably I will have problem running smoothly the game as well but looking at the requirements the only thing I see is that in recommended reqs a x64 installation is needed, the rest appears to be the old one. But who knows

On Steam it is claimed that some languages are updated with Polish and Russian fully implemented but looking into the available languages in GOG thse are still not present, being only the English installer the proper upated "port" version But indeed t could be the classic delay between installers and Pure one pass Galaxy installation. Anyways as I said before the English offlne installer seems to be the only properly updated version for now. So it is curious

I am tempted to try the English version to test the performance (apparently old save should be compatible). How it performs exactly? the problems you talk about are framerate issues? lag? etc?

EDIT: I am thinking about it and I ask a question. Was the game originally multilanguage? Really I can't remember. Maybe they have labeled the versions in a different way.
Anyways they are objectvelly smaller in size, so I don't think so.

From what I've read, the new English version has all other languages included.

Bad communication from GOG - no changelog, no update flag, nothing!

Oh, I see. Thanks for the info

Greetings

Then They have respected the old versions. They are still available.
Ok. I have tested a bit the new version and for me, surpinsingly I can say It runs the same or even better than before. I have tweaked some details here and there and I have the feeling (maybe placebo) that the game runs better considering that I was never able to play the game at maximum settings smoothly, well, I am pleased. good enough for me. (I am sure My poor laptop is lower than a nintendo switch or even a microwave).

The only difference I perceived was that launching the game takes forever now. The first launch was around 5 minutes or more until the logos and menu appeared. Maybe it is the first time (I started the game from scratch) but I expected the worse. It Also crashed Galaxy trying to update the cloud saves, but that could be just an eventual glitch I have noticed in other games

My doubt is: Was this game properly voiced in other languages or it was just subtitles? I can't remember

Its been the case for me every launch since the update.
*eye roll*

Getting pretty sick and tired of these unwanted "upgrades"...

Yes, I realize it's my responsibility to back up my installers, but I wish there was an easier way than having to use Galaxy to get old versions back, especially when I'm not swimming in storage space.
If you don't want it then don't upgrade.
