Well, they have patched out Denuvo now.. Let's hope they decide to release it on GOG.

No, it doesn't seem to be like that at all.

Up until know, there's only 1 cracking group that does it. CPY. And they take a long while with most games. And Denuvo is also constantly evolving. Right now we are at what they consider version 4. 2Dark is the only game with that version of Denuvo crack, and yes, it was quick. But then, it also was a small indie game and it was the x32 version of Denuvo v4.

In fact, everything indicates that cracking denuvo takes a lot of time. For each game. Which is why they normally wait for stable version of games to do it. And don't crack patches.

Some randon antidenuvo guy cracking Syberia 3 is mostly about it being a Unity game.

It's a step in the right direction, but they still have the terrible controls and other technical issues to deal with.
THE DRM was a long way from being the only big problem the game had.

We are beginning to get reviews from those who have finished the game, and a lot are disspointed for reasons that do not involve technical problems. Like that a lot of what is in the game does not fit in with the previious two games, that the charecters are not as well written as in the last two games (that the games villians are given no motivation beyond
WE ARE EVIL! is coming in for a lot of criticism) and that game's ending is weak.
I guess the "Third installment of a trilogy often disappoints" applies to games as well as movies.

Yeah I'm holding off too even with Denuvo patched out. I think the real problem is "you can't go back", ie, it's rare that a 15 year old "old school" feeling game can gets sequelled with such a large time gap years later (often with different development personnel or by a new studio / publisher), and yet stays true to the original "feel" and gameplay style without having anything dumbed down "for the casual audience" / consolization.

Every time I hear a "new old" game announced, I both jump for joy and yet simultaneously sit there dreading its "reinvention" in all the wrong areas. I'd have been perfectly happy if Syberia 3 had been another modern 2D Point & Click with the art style / interface of something like Gray Matter but in the Syberia universe, but hey, they "needed" their controller support, right?...

They "needed" to go after the big console gamer market. Nothing wrong with that, but they basically screwed over the core Computer gamer market for this franchise in the process. No excuse for the messed up Mouse and Keyboard controls.
Though from all the criticism of the story and character elements, I have a feeling that is is Benoir Sokal who had the problems capturing the magic after 15 years. A lot of times writers are incapable of going home.

When not even the removal of a piece of excrement in digital form aka Denuvo is enough to motivate the fans of the franchise to purchase the sequel, you know you've done something wrong!

The problems that have been reported - I can look past them, cos I love the Syberia series, and Kate Walker. And I want to know what happens to her, after Hans abandoned her.

Plus, I watched a bit on YouTube, and one of my FAVOURITE characters is back, and I NEED to know how!!! :wub: (can someone tell me how to do spoilers here, so I can post the name?)

But it's Denuvo that I can't stomach.


WEAK STORY: That's subjective. Some may find it weak, while others may love it.

ENEMIES WITH NO MOTIVATION: Whoever said that may not have played the first 2 games, and therefore won't understand the motivation.

BAD LIP SYNCING: That can be fixed with a patch.

JOYPAD CONTROLS: A pain to be sure! That was done for the console market, at the expense of the PC market, which is where the game originated. Big mistake on the part of the develops. But I'd still rather have the game, than NOT have the game.

DENUVO: NO! NO! NO! There is NO justification for that, under ANY circumstances!

You might buy it, and play, even if it's not the sequel that the franchise deserved. That doesn't change the valid critics the game is receiving.
I played Fallout 3, even knowing that it wasn't going to be the sequel the franchise deserved.
Fortunately the following game was better in many aspects, imo. New Vegas was great.
You don't think the downsides are that big deal, that's a subjective thing. What you don't think it's a big flaw of the game, others think it is.
Someone might not purchase a game for something you consider insignificant, like not having Linux version. Because it didn't affect you (I don't know which OS you use, I'm just giving an example). It doesn't invalidade his/her thoughts about that subject.
About the removal of Denuvo:
I think it's great that they decided to get rid of that junk. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of faith in Syberia 3.
I don't think it'll have a happy ending like Doom had, which was a very well received sequel, which also had Denuvo in the beginning. Like dudalb said, the DRM wasn't the only flaw that mattered. Got to agree with him.

I found an interesting statement in this review:

"...adventure game fans are like heroin addicts: any game is a hit"

IMO there's more than just some truth in it. :D

I won't be buying Syberia 3, but not because of the technical problems. The second instalment was already a departure from what, IMO, made Syberia one of the best point & click adventure titles of its time. The first game struck just the right note of nostalgia and melancholia. There were several distinct locations to explore, each long past its heyday, and the strange man Kate is looking for has left a profound mark on every one of them. Almost every secondary character can only reminisce about his/her past glory. Everything was spiralling into ruin, decay, disrepair and sadness. I can still clearly feel the game's vibes.

The second game was set in a blandly white snowy landscape, and even the Youkol tribe could not captivate me as much as the sleepy village of Valadilene. It added a duo of completely unnecessary villains, which were – to add insult to injury – cartoonishly one-dimensional. Syberia 2 had a strong ending, but that was about it.

Now I see that in Syberia 3 there are also cardboard-cutout villains, mediocre environments to explore, and not enough melancholia that made the first game so memorable.

Oh, you will have the die hard fanboys,who will support ANYTHING with the name "Syberia" on it, but no doubt a lot of fans of the series are very disappointed.
As for the crappy PC controls, no excuse. Doublefine's "Full Throttle Remastered" brings the game to the Playstation 4, but keeps the classic Mouse and Keyboard controls for PC users. No reason why Microids could not have done that for 'Syberia 3".
That review uses a lot of hyperbole, but he is dead right about the mentality that a lot of fanboys have.
I disagree with him about Syberia 2, though.

I've been following this game's train wreck of a release, and a fun new development seems to have occurred: after initially patching out the game's Denuvo, Microids has (allegedly) patched a newer version back in with a game update. Anyone who thought it was a nice gesture that they removed it and bought the game out of goodwill is now saddled with a Denuvo game.

Classy, classy stuff.

227 seems to be right, they removed Denuvo just so they could put in a New Improved Denuvo.
I have never seen a game company piss all over it's fanbase the way the Microids is. Un Freaking Believable.
"New Improved Denuvo" is just like "New Improved" Joker Cosmetics......
And not the it matters at this point, but the new patches have not solved the crappy Mouse and Keyboard controls problem.
THis has got to be one of the most disasterous launches in PC history. Last time I have seen a launch this bad was "Hellgate:London".
And the tone of most of the fans o n the forums has turned nasty with this latest fiasco. You still have a few die hard fanboys ,but they are getting fewer and fewer.
