Will only buy if it comes to GOG.

Saberwolf_Prime: The problem I think is the emphasis on the words "perceive" and "feel". They "feel" that they're losing (a significant amount of) sales because piracy exists, however they don't know for a fact how significant it actually is or what it will be. Witcher 3 didn't need Denuvo and it still did great. Yes pirates will pirate, but fans will buy, so logically protecting initial sales via DRM is not entirely sound.

The best thing consumers can do is insist on DRM-free. Don't buy a DRM'd game in the hopes it will get removed later, DON'T pirate, (and for goodness sake don't buy & pirate!).

Nicole28: I certainly agree with this. :)

My full intention was to wait till it actually arrives here before purchasing it (if I do), and not before that.

More on the topic, I have no idea what's wrong with the publisher. Microids is the same company who published Yesterday origins, a game that arrived with Denuvo packed in. And now, this huge mess of a beloved franchise. You know, there isn't even the ability to manually save! (I personally hate check-point saving) And, as many others have eloquently laid out in the thread, the game is rife with bugs galore, lousy controls and camera, lip syncing issues..etc.. It's like, what were they doing for the last five years? Just dreaming up the best copy protection they could slap on it?

They should take a cue from Dreamfall Chapters, which was published DRM-Free. I don't see the company going bankrupt from doing so, and the game received quite a fair bit of attention and promotion (GOG had the title up as a giveaway during one of the summer sales for those who purchased a set minimum cost of games).
Yesterday Origins has been already cracked as well. So I wonder what's the point of wasting resources on DRM at all? Software publishers have been making copy-protection schemes since the early years of videogaming. None of them ever stopped pirates. EVER!!

So I just wonder: Why do they still invest in DRM?????

I know this all seems conspiracy theory but sometimes I also wonder wether Denuvo isn't bribing certain executives in the publishing companies (making them "Denuvo moles") in order to press the companies towards implementing DRM :/

AB2012: LOL. Not only has Syberia 3's Denuvo now been cracked already, someone just re-posted the crack notes to a tech forum:-

"Game starts up about 40s faster without D sooo... yeah Denuvo kills performance... especially when you are using two Denuvos in one Game"

So despite sticking TWO layers of Denuvo in it (Denuvo within Denuvo), it's failed already. And the obvious speed increase from removing it pretty much kills off the "Denuvo doesn't affect performance" claim. Now I wonder how much of Syberia 3's voice acting / animation budget had to be cut to pay the Denuvo license fee...
I also read a few times that even somae of the worst fps drops happen with the normal version but don't happen with the cracked one (I'm talking about the drops down to 5fps on powerful PCs).

I didn't need that proof though, because I noticed the negative effects of Denuvo in another way.
It was when I played ME:A (borrowed the origin Accout of a friend) and as soon as the Game was installed (not started just installed) booting my PC took five times as long as normal, as soon as I removed it (only the game not origin so it wasn't becasue of the client) everthing was back to the normal speed.

Moonbeam: Will only buy if it comes to GOG.
I bought SYberia 1 & 2 as physical copies, then on Steam, as well on GOG, so I don't like to say this, but I won't support a company that doesn't care about their customers. I don't understand why they focused on console optimisation instead of staying with mice & key, when everyone knows that not many folks are going to buy point & click adventure games on consoles.
They should've stayed faithful to their fanbase, rather than lose them. Alas, what is done is done.

And aside from the DRM and the control problems, the game just seems to be not nearly as good from a storytelling/gameplay point of view as the first two.
Looks as if the "Third in a trilogy often disappoints) meme might have happened here.
And incromprhensible as to why Microids made a series of decisions almost guaranteed to alientate the core fanbase for the Syberia series.
Odd decision not to have it here.

Apparently the Mac version is DRM free, at least it says so on the macgamestore, maybe there is still a chance.

... after it gets fixed. :P

Stupid decision you mean to load the game with DRM.

And some of what is wrong with the game is cannot be fixed...like the lousy voice acting.
And people are referring to the main character as "Lara Walker" or "Kate Croft" since Kate Walker in Syberia 3 apparently looks a lot like Lara Croft in the current reboot games.

Have to agree with you.
given the general current quality of the game it seems like it's not a big loss not having it here on release day ^^ - hopefully gog will get a fully patched version in like 6 months and then be able to sell it for like 12,99$ as i assume prices for the game dropping quite fast because of the bad early reception

It's not the same.
It's a Unity game, and those can't be properly protected by Denuvo (I don't know why they even take Unity games. They like money, I guess).
The same thing happened with Yesterday Origins.

The developers should have spent the money on fixing bugs and technical problems and making it work properly with mouse & keyboard, instead of wasting money on Dodgy Denuvo, which has only alienated the fanvase and PREVENTED legit sales!

This is all very disappointing to read! I am a huge fan of the first two games and was really looking forward to playing this game. I hope they "fix" what appears to be broken.

Once the first Denuvo game was cracked, it became a lot easier for other Denuvo g ames.

Unfoturnelty, there are major problems with the voice acting, the character design and the story, as well as the technical problems. Seems to be a major, major misfire on all levels.
