Pookina: Just the other day I was on the Cuphead website for some reason, specifically for the DLC (The Delicious Last Course). If you look it up right now from the search button, you'll find it and that it's TBA, so we are destined to get it, but the website gives you ZERO indicators of a GOG version. Same with the RiME website. Just go to the websites of the games that get GOG releases, chances are half do not acknowledge GOG's existence even if they actively update and support the game here.

That should not extend to press I think, but I suspect it's simply easier for them to write that it's available on Steam than to do the tiny bit of research required to list other stores.
I'd like to ask an interesting question: what does the Rimworld dev thinks of the balance of selling his game here?
The game was launched on GOG almost 2 years since it was released on steam and it never had any special discount sale. Which makes me think that almost all of the people who bought it on steam will not consider spending 30$ to get it on GOG (thus lowering his profit margin by a lot).

Yet, as far as i know, the dev is very professional about the GOG release, constantly releasing updates for his game here. Assuming that the income from GOG sales is quite low, isn't it still profitable for him, since he's so dedicated to keeping it updated? Makes me think.
There must be something wrong with the dev's workflow. He says it's a lot of effort to maintain it on GOG and tbh I find it quite fishy, the game doesn't get as many frequent updates as some other games do so it's not like he has to release newer patches as much.

Apparently GoG is partly to blame for the comparatively low sales ratio as well:

"GoG ignored my request to release on their platform on launch. They only asked me a while after release.
(Supraland took part) in sales, yes."

Must have been around the time when curation had this turnaround and suddenly decided to re-evaluate formerly rejected submissions like Grimoire: Heralds of the Winged Exemplar.
Supraland's dev should look at it a bit more rationally though - with a 3 months delay chances are that your game won't sell that many copies on GoG and that you maybe might want to lower your expectations accordingly.

Somebody else suggested to maybe put Supraland back on GoG when it's finished receiving updates/DLC and is all patched up. A sort of GOTY edition, if you will. I'd go that route if I were in the dev's place.

I am not sure what happened to DavidM since the Unreal Tournament days but this attitude reveals that he sees GOG customers as third class citizens (-> "annoying", "I wouldn't do it again"). This unprofessional behavior has one consequence. I don't support this developer. He can release his games on itch.io, EPIC or whatever. I don't care. I won't buy it. And I frankly don't care whether Steam games can be DRM free or not. And if EPIC decides to do a Supraland or another game from this developer giveaway I won't claim it.

It also shows a problem CD Projekt and GOG have. The lack of advertisement. I've just read a case where someone bought The Witcher 3 on Steam because he didn't know that GOG is part of CD Projekt (YES!). He would have preferred to buy it here on GOG because he could have supported CD Projekt. But it was too late.

GOG's main problem is that people associate PC gaming with Steam. There are many trailers, news, etc. on different gaming sites that only mention Steam although a GOG version of a game exists. They usually post links to the Steam store. I know some people who prefer buying DRM-free games, but they end up buying the Steam versions because they don't know that a GOG version exists. And this is most likely also the problem with the GOG version of Supraland.

This.

It's not all bad though - the GoG-supported Escapist Indie Showcase should compensate for a couple of current and future promotional blunders and hopefully shine a big spotlight on GoG in a few days.
Glad I decided to hold off on purchasing this. Unfortunately this will make me even more weary of buying new releases on GOG in the future.

I need to say, this is just an awesome game that I was waiting here and which I bought immediately upon release. It’s a pity to read this now.
On the other hand, since the developer does not need my money, I will regard it this way: I can take future versions of the game (and the second part, which is planned) without paying money.

GOG is itself partly to blame for this situation.
Any upcoming game that will be released in Steam is always written - "it will be released in Steam".
But GOG is constantly hiding upcoming game releases. As a result, we learn about the release of the game here often on the day of its release here.
When people do not know that the game will be released here, they often do not wait for it here, but buy it in other stores. And GOG is losing potential purchases. This is a natural result of this local cosplay of Polish Intelligence.
Soviet KGB, USA's CIA, Israeli MOSSAD, the Chinese (which no one knows the name of, except the Chinese themselves) and Polish GOG are the most secretive intelligence services. And that would be funny if it weren’t so sad.

I'm starting to think that the CDPR team and the GOG team hate each other for some absurd reason, a bit like when two drivers from the same car manufacturer destroy each other in a race.

CDPR hasn't yet added GOG achievements to The Witcher 2. All of Geralt's cameos in other games (Monster Hunter, Soul Calibur, Daemon X Machina) have never snatched a release on GOG. Kojima's passage to CDPR's QG wasn't used to convince him to release Death Stranding on GOG. And many other cases where they seem at best to ignore each other instead of supporting each other.

For me, the question arises how seriously you can still take hand-picked game selection when you see which * works * appear on GoG.

This is not going to be GoG bashing, it has been getting more and more difficult for me to see only the positive things about GoG lately.
Too bad, I was thinking of buying it until I saw there was no discount during the sale
