mrkgnao: Hey, look, it's me.

BreOl72: Ah, too bad - you just missed a unique opportunity - should have said:

"It's a me, MaGog!"

;o)
Nice. Took me a while to understand, as I have never played any Mario game, nor seen anyone else play it.

Maighstir: Goglodytes, get it right.

ReynardFox: I always thought Goglodytes sounded derogatory.

ReynardFox: Aw. There's no substitute for the real thing. :)
Personally I use the classic Lunar Magic for my Mario Making.

That's still only a one game editor, Mario Maker offers up SMB1, SMB3, SMW and NSMBU, plus being an official product we're seeing actual developer personalities making levels, not just a few fans.

Being an official product, we're seeing absolute trash. In only a few days, it has hit a million levels and I'd like for you to guess how many of those are worthwhile.

You think there's a bunch that are basically bad lineart of penises or something?

.... Or boobs?

You mean like Spore Creature Creator?

Absolutely.

Heh... I recall LGR i think it was, going on about how creature ended up being a penis with balls and teeth.

I was surprised the other day that some people prefer the 'goger' term above 'goglodyte'. Now if you tell me that it has a derogatory connotation I would understand.
In my book 'troglodytes' either refers to cavemen (with the particularity that the caves are in a cliff-side) or some kind of big Lizardmen from Warhammer PnP mythos ; not that derogatory in my opinion, but maybe I have low standards :-)

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo has failed to predict the SHEER VOLUME of levels and as such is unable to regulate them, if there is any regulation at all.

Probably... They'll attack speed runner, rom hackers and level makers of the NES games, but leave bad penis art on their network for everyone to see... *sigh* I hate nintendo.

outsidexbox also talked about it on one of their top-list-thing. Near the end, number 5, IIRC.

I don't own a Wii U (unfortunately) but I do like Super Mario Maker and have been watching many YouTube clips of level play-throughs and stuff and I must say I like some of the ingenuity of the levels out there. Someone did what basically amounts to a side-scrolling shooter using the Clown Car object and various flying enemies and flying fire flowers.
Someone did a Ghost House level that features vertically mirrored areas such that it looks like gravity reversed itself every time you take a pipe.

I hope Nintendo expands Mario Maker in the future with more level styles (sky levels, night levels, ice levels and desert levels spring to mind as staples of the Mario universe) and more item types (slopes ala SMB3 seem to be a popular request)

A thought occurs to me... I'm sure if we looked at the license agreement to mariomaker that any levels you make and upload belong to Nintendo... Heh... i wonder if they plan on taking the top 100 levels in a year and making a new game letting the community do all the hard work...

Well they've confirmed DLC is in the pipeline, so we'll see.

That is not something Nintendo would do...

You sure? I've heard the license/eula for the DS/3DS was anything you put through the system belonged to nintendo... If it belongs to nintendo, why wouldn't they use it? They've re-purposed and reused old code and characters before.

Besides, they are already charging a huge sum for anyone to use their assets on Youtube from their own personality, content, or gameplay...

I'll be pessimistic until they start making smart decisions.
