Its 106 miles to Chicago, we have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hit it!

Don't worry my precious - he doesn't know whay he is talking about. For all i care, let him play games like Midnight Wanderers, Punisher or Cadillacs & Dinosaurs in his new TFT and think he is getting all the true arcades experience.
FTFY :)

ZFR: I see ads for "computer glasses" even nowdays. It doesn't seem to be something that was present only during the CRT era.

mechmouse: I was about to say the same thing.

I'd say you're more likely to get noticed THAT way.
Not sunglasses, but specially-tinted glasses designed to reduce eyestrain from monitors exist. They're called VDU-tinted glasses. I think they tend to be blue.

Pretty much like this ;P

Translates to "At the beach with the GF"
- Hon, loved that you came to the beach with me
*a hot chick passes by*
*puts on sunglasses*
- is the sunlight bothering you, baby?
- YEP ;P

Exactly.
I find LCD screens to be more troublesome for adjusting the brightness as the old CRT monitors could be dimmed all the way to nothing then it was a simple case of adjusting the gamma to make out the details. The LCD screens backlight can only be dimmed so much.

jsidhu762: Hello everyone!

Remember CRT TVs and monitors? Remember how they were notorious for eye strain and probably other problems?

I remember ages ago seeing an ad in a magazine - I think it was Nintendo Power or Gamepro or something - of some kid playing games while wearing a pair of shades. I'm pretty confident that was just for show, but would a pair of sunglasses actually help with those primitive CRT screens?
When I got my first PC in 1999 my parents bought me this second screen/glass which you put on the monitor. God know what it was supposed to do, both me and my parents knew nothing about PCs back then, and in the PC shop they could sell them anything. It looked something like this:
