Czarpoon:
Dragonshard is really fun to play and has a good pace, but it's not an RPG. It's a limited tactics RTS/RPG hybrid. I'm not sure this is what you expect.

I would suggest the Spellforce series instead. The first game is more an RTS than an RPG. The Second is an RPG, with a few RTS maps (3-4 in "Shadow Wars" and 2-3 in "Dragon Storm"). I haven't finished "Demons of the Past" yet.

In my opinion King's Bounty games are definitely worth playing. You play as a hero, who recruits units (their numbers are limited) from the world map. There's no city development or direct army production, like in HoMM games.

phaolo: How is "A Story About My Uncle".
The review on Steam are way better than here..
It's alright. I played the somewhat inferior freeware version (you might still be able to find it at some places on the net, if you want to test what the game is like) and a bit of this commercial version, too, and I enjoyed it (apart from a few very frustrating spots), but I'm not sure you'd like it. It's a bit of a one trick pony, the only thing that sets it apart from what people call a "walking simulator" is the jumping mechanic, so instead of just walking where you're supposed to go, you'll have to find a way on how to get there by using your 'grappling arm' and jumping abilities. These jumps range from cakewalk to annoying precision timing. There is a checkpoint system if you fail them and die. The game offers a bit of exploration but it's mostly linear. And short. It's got nice sounds and music and graphics (if you like the style) and a sweet little narration, but nothing that much out of the ordinary. Don't get me wrong, like I said, I quite enjoyed it, but IIRC and if I'm not misjudging you, I take it you set greater store in gameplay and aren't as forgiving (?), so it might not be for you ...

Oh, this advice came too late (but thanks).
I watched some videos on YT and the game looked fun, so I bought it.
Anyway, amen, even if it's just a short action game, it seems ok for $2.5

Does someone know about SotS, instead?

murcielago: My recommendations:

TIE Fighter
X-Wing Alliance
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Commandos 2
You, squire, have impeccable taste.

The reviews are a bit discouraging, does it work fine or is it as broken as they say?
I'm not usually a fan of bundles, but this summer sale has some pretty damn good ones. The titles you might not want in a bundle end up only costing a couple of dollars anyway.

The Settlers bundle couldn't be better. Same for the Anno one ;)
Gotta agree with ya! :)
I cannot recommend enough the classic Dungeons&Dragons games, with particular affection for Neverwinter Nights. It is still the best platform for ongoing roleplaying in a persistent world with dedicated content makers still adding things to this day, over 14 years after its release. In fact, tomorrow will be its 14th anniversary! That is ancient in game years.

Ask most NWN veterans and they will tell you:The main campaign is not the game's selling point. Not even Shadows of Undrentide did much to showcase the game, but Hordes of the Underdark changed all that. More importantly it allowed people to build their own persistent world servers for a myriad of styles, but the one I spent the past 10 years off and on playing:Roleplaying. I spent the majority of my time on 3 different servers, the latter of which is still going strong:

I've always played fan made modules. The regular games can't hold a candle to what people have come up with through the creation kit. I've probably poured more hours into NWN then any game I've ever owned.
For the record, I've never logged into a multiplayer server.

Yes, there are literally hundreds of great modules out there, from single player to multiplayer to DM-ed ones that will form into an entire campaign.

I recommend Darkness over Daggerford because it prominently features Dwarves:

Played it three times if memory serves. Its too bad NWN2 wasn't as popular when it comes to the fan made modules. At the time it was released I was hoping for another surge of titles from people but it seemed to fizzle out much quicker then the first game.

I've only played the game a few months ago, and I didn't experience any of those issues. The game was updated along the way to address them.

Leroux: I'm not so sure if this is a good idea, since a similar thread I made in a past sale was mostly overlooked, but let's try again. The Summer Sale offers hundred of discounts, but sadly GOG's UI still doesn't support much needed functions like "sort by price", "sort by discount" etc., so it's difficult to get a good overview. And the official Summer Sale thread, while the most active, is also the most fast-paced thread, where many posts get overlooked quickly. So this a desperate attempt to find out about the more interesting offers and the most interesting games on sale, kind of like a Gaming Deals thread, Summer Sale edition.

It's meant for answering the following questions:

- What deal in the Summer Sale do you consider a steal?
- Which games do you recommend to try at the current prices?
- Are there any games you're unsure about buying and that you'd like the opinions of others about?
Agreed, sort by price and discount both in forward and reverse are sorely needed. I'm not sure if they haven't implemented that because they just have higher priorities, or because they purposefully don't want people being able to sort by price so they're forced to have to spend 20 minutes poring over an entire list of titles hoping they'll do whimsical buys outside of the price range they were looking for or what, but IMHO it results in some amount of lost sales. There have been several big promos in the past where I just wanted to sort the entire list of games from lowest to highest price like I can do on almost every other game retailer website out there, then scan through from the lowest price up to a certain dollar value of what would ultimately be instabuys, where if I see a game I really want for a great price I'll practically buy it on sight, and don't have to put much effort into the process. Then I may fire up my wishlist and want to sort it by price also, then scan down the wishlist for any other titles and if there's a good enough discount on something at any particular price I may buy it. But I don't always have the mental energy or patience to navigate the entire website in unsorted order to find something whimsical to buy, and I shouldn't have to and generally don't want to have to resort to using 3rd party software/websites to implement the functionality that should be on the GOG site properly.

There are definitely promo sales in the past where there were games I did not buy because I didn't have a quick and easy solution to look for exactly what I wanted at that moment, so I just said "they'll always be on sale in the future again, perhaps when I have more time and patience." :)

This sale I've had more time and patience and also used Mrkgnao's helpful per-day sale links, however I believe all of the prices that show up on there are in USD (not sure if there's a currency option, didn't try to check).

Really needs to be a sort-by option on the front page, the Games page, the game Library page, the Wishlist page, anywhere there is a list of games that someone might want to sort really.

http://steamcommunity.com/id/skeletonbow/wishlist/ has sort by price which is nice for example.
https://www.gog.com/account/wishlist ... not so much.

Not by GOG itself sure but if you use Adalia Fundamentals you can sort by price.

Since im a huge Fan of Baldurs Gate series (beside Skyrim my favourite games) and Codename Panzers isnt discounted, im currently thinking about buying NWN Diamond and Planescape Torment, i somehow never played them but they look similar. Is it really that similar, or like Pillars of Eternity, which looks like a new BG, but plays like a casualized piece of pure garbage? Because comparing Pillars of Eternity to Baldurs Gate is like comparing Resident Evil 6 to Resident Evil 1.

I watched a few NWN Videos, and i dont see a Group, thats what keeps me from buying it. I enjoyed the dialogues in Baldurs Gate, especially with Jan Jansen and Minsc
