I'm not so sure if this is a good idea, since a similar thread I made in a past sale was mostly overlooked, but let's try again. The Summer Sale offers hundred of discounts, but sadly GOG's UI still doesn't support much needed functions like "sort by price", "sort by discount" etc., so it's difficult to get a good overview. And the official Summer Sale thread, while the most active, is also the most fast-paced thread, where many posts get overlooked quickly. So this a desperate attempt to find out about the more interesting offers and the most interesting games on sale, kind of like a Gaming Deals thread, Summer Sale edition.

It's meant for answering the following questions:

- What deal in the Summer Sale do you consider a steal?
- Which games do you recommend to try at the current prices?
- Are there any games you're unsure about buying and that you'd like the opinions of others about?

Leroux:
Get Octodad!
I'd recommend getting Penumbra if you like Horror games.
3 games for about 2 bucks or so.

Curious about Dyad, any opinions?

Hasbro classics is a steal if you like RPG-s (I had all the games before)
Deus Ex, Lords of Xulima, Age of Decadence, Jade Empire are a steal if you haven't got them already (read up on those games, these are a hit and miss for some people)
X-com bundle is a steal if you like X-Com and killing aliens (ni*gers from space) (I bought it, although I also have CD versions somewhere in my parents' home in the countryside)

I'm unsure about Grim Dawn, read a lot of differing reviews and opinions.
Also I don't know if I like the Bullfrom bundle, hit and miss are some of their games.

The prices are all good, my bank account is getting a goddamn beating again. Damn you GoG !! :D

Hmm... I am curious too, I seek GOG exclusives that are not available on other platforms. Such as the Tex Murphy's in French but i already have them; and Planescape Torment... Is there such a GOG mix list??
The first one that caught my eye as a steal is Simcity 4 - Deluxe ed. $4 is seriously cheap for such a grand game. You spend months developing a massive metropolitan area. Skylines might be better (don't really know), but for those without a pc to handle it SC4 is at least the next best thing (if it's not outright better already)

Also, Anno 1503 for $2.40? Dang... Possibly the 2nd best anno after1404

From what I've seen, I can recommend Jade Empire at 80% off as a good deal, if there's still anyone left who doesn't own it yet. Very typical Bioware RPG plotwise, but I found the gameplay and setting a lot of fun (more of an action game than a RPG really, but with RPG elements). Ironically, the first real battle is (or comes off as) one of the hardest in the game, so don't get discouraged by that. Once you master that, the rest will be almost a cakewalk, but an enjoyable one.

Any opinions about Hotlime Miami 2 and D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die? They both interest me to a degree but aren't super cheap yet, and I've read some not so favorable reviews about them (e.g. Hotline Miami 2 failing to replicate what was fun about the first part, D4 being more of an open ended episode than a complete "season").

Skylines isn't better, trust me. SimCIty 4 with a lot of mods/new assets is much better.

Maybe this one? No idea how complete, helpful and up to date it is though.

I've always had a sneaking suspicion that that might be the case :)

HLM 2 is great. It might not be as good as the first one due to the level design but it's still really fun.
The maps are much larger, which means you get killed from offscreen more often.
It just means you have to be a bit more careful compared to the first. Still highly recommend it.

I love D4. The story does end on a cliffhanger yes, there's no real resolution to the plot really.
BUT I'd say it's still worth playing just to experience the amazing characters.

Thanks! I also can't quite figure out what kind of game D4 is. It seems to be an adventure game in the more recent Telltale-style à la Walking Dead. Is it about choices? Does it feature many QTEs (I think I read that it does but that they are more fun than those of Telltale)? Do you have to appreciate anime-style humor and weirdness to like it, or is something completely different?

If you like ARPGs you will enjoy it. Now to specifics

If you played Titan's Quest and liked it then its more than certain that you will like it since its overall improved TQ.
Maps arent randomly generated, there is a lot to be find because quests dont come with a quest pointer on the maps(unless you already found the entrance to a dungeon) . Mixing classes is fun though I cant recall how many classes are in Grim Dawn... 4 or 5 I think and you can mix 2 or dont mix them at all. Doing all the main and side quests should probably take 20-30 hours at least.

You have to appreciate the humour.
Watch this to get an impression: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOOPPuZsBg4
I wouldn't really say it's anime style humour.

Imagine finding a phone in an airplane and optionally doing an airplane related quiz on it. :P

It does feature quite a few Qte's, they use the mouse and really are quite fun. (which surprised me)
The control scheme might take you a while to get used to.

Yes it's an adventure game of sorts.
I'm thinking about Dark Sun and Al Qadim. These are classical oldschool RPGs with nice isometric view. But are both bundled so you need to buy whole bunch to get better discount.

And can also recommend Samorost 2+3. Sweet nice P&C adventures with lovely graphics by Amanita.
I want 75% off Never Winter series. That's the only games I want to get from GOG.
