Thank you for the warning, and yes, I'm aware of and have already begun addressing the concerns. I'm applying to smaller, less expensive colleges at the moment, and plan to save up for graduate school (you can't get many jobs as a psychologist without having a PhD first).

Well, there is an extreme way of doing it, given the many years before one can get a PhD...... maybe

Psychology will eat you alive the same time you eat *it*. It's like a relationship with a pineapple. I am not a student of the thing and I only dabble and blabber in a few selected topics. One of the smarter things to do (I think this counts as an advice), think of why are you going to learn psychology. The whole idea is to learn how to help others. And the practical help comes from a deep understanding of various sorts.

So! Who are you going to help? Is it yourself? Are they small children? Are they unhappy married couples? Are they traumatized victims? Are they simple, ordinary people that you won't contact directly? Or will you do research for the sake of understanding and maybe uncovering something new? Or are they animals? Or are they demented, schizophrenic and otherwise ill people?

Again, learning psychology is learning how to help others. Bear in mind that to do that efficiently, you yourself have to keep a sane mind and have your own everyday life in peace. You have to always be in harmony with yourself.

I myself wanted to study psychology, and I was given the same questions. Not the same wording, but the idea is the same. And then I realized that I had no real idea of what I shall do with my knowledge. I am narcissistic egoist, not caring to help in the first place. Maybe in second. And I am mainly interested in micro expressions and anything that is related to deception, lies, imagination, human nature and a few other sorts. My goal in psychology is too selfish, so I kept the thing as a hobby. Well, criminology would suit my interest, but I learned that very few experts are needed, jobs are occupied, so I would end up creating theories out of the blue.

Just felt like sharing a thought.

Smart move. The smaller colleges sometimes tend to have more generous financial aid packages consisting of scholarships and grants. Keep an eye out for scholarships, too. Also, don't forget about community college. Good luck! Oh, and happy birthday.

Huh. Interesting thought. I decided to go into it partly because I always realized how calm of a person I can be. A lot of people come to me for advice sometimes since they know I won't judge them and that I won't be troubled or angered if they feel the need to express their emotions heavily (there's even some running joke about how I never get angry about anything). I do wish to help people and care about the feelings of others.
Huh. Who knew I'd suddenly get all this handy college information?
I considered going to a community college, but I was afraid how that would be looked at when it came time to head to graduate school. Although, to be fair, the college I've been accepted to is arguably just as small as a community college.

just to clarify my point: i wasn't aware of this thread, happy Bday to you yet, and my riddle was in PM and off-contest afaic (it may include cultural-dependant elements and i'm lame at puzzles, both solving and designing)
