011284mm: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

gamesfreak64: i know that question, thats from a game, i think it was from monkey island 2.
So was my response.
Although really, the question isn't from Monkey Island 2, the question's just a tongue twister that's been around for ages.

...I'm not that historically/culturally ignorant. I know who Harry Houdini is and always have known (how could I not? I told you I was an amateur magician, didn't I?). I just didn't get the reference that the host was making until I remembered my actions from the game.

Austrobogulator: Ooh, I have a little maths puzzle: Does P=NP?

Clearly not an actual entry :P Happy birthday anyway...I just assumed you were 40 or something. I guess I assume everyone here is an old fart :o
Why, of course Pizza is not equal to Nonexistent Parapsychology. What a ridiculous question.
And yeah, I make the same mistake when talking to other people sometimes. I still get surprised when I hear that somebody here is in their 20s. Or a female.

zeogold: Or, in short:
A woodchuck would chuck no amount of wood since a woodchuck can't chuck wood.
I prefer the response I first learned:

A woodchuck would chuck all the wood he could chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
Am I really the first one to come in here and post...

"What have I got in my pocket?"

;)

What kind of nerds are we here people???

Gamers.
That was an easy one!

I considered using that one, but I figured the Monkey Island 2 response was more appropriate for a GOG setting.

Well, I mean, that's what gamers are best at. Playing things well.

bad_fur_day1: What exactly do you do when your stumped? Because I'm totally confounded on Catherine: Rapunzel level 55 or something. Obviously I'd have to show you the puzzle but, it's like one vertical pillar with destructible blocks undernieth, it seems impossible. Anyway, brings me back to my original question of what to do when your stumped. Have you been stumped before? What did you do then to get unstumped?
I'd try to help you with it if I knew how to play.
When I'm really stuck on something, typically I try to stop solving it in the ways I'm currently using. More often than not, it's my logic that's off somehow. It seems crazy, but I'll either switch up my strategy completely, even if it doesn't make any sense, or start attacking it randomly. Usually I'll find an opening or a lead somewhere within the chaotic movements, and from there, I can find a pattern to solve it from. The whole idea is to find a path you hadn't considered previously.

Well, I don't want any steam. But I can give you a riddle. I have written several for my roleplaying group and just for fun. Let's start with an easy (kind of mathematical) one. (You have to find the number that the question mark stands for)

3 ~ 4 = 1
1 ~ 1 = 4
1 ~ 9 = 5
4 ~ 5 = 1
9 ~ 6 = 2
5 ~ 2 = ?

Surprised at my maturity, were you?
...wait, actually, maybe that's just because most people here are fairly immature anyways...

Moonbeam: Happy Birthday for the 29th zeogold (lest I should forget) and enjoy the day!

You're still little, am curious as to what you want to be when you are big?:)
Thanks!
I plan to major in psychology in college. I'm thinking something in the experimental field or research of some sort.

So, what about it. Can you solve my riddle? Then I'll post a more difficult one. :-)

I'm getting to it, hang on here, buddy boy. I've got 3 people I'm juggling a conversation with in chats and am trying to respond to people in 5 different threads.
