ET3D: Like for example that Disney buying LucasArts means that we're unlikely to ever see LucasArts games here.
I understand what you're trying to say but actually Disney makes more sense that all them others .. bacause they bought lucas with lots of money and all they do now is try to recoup that money and capitalize on it. So they opened wide ... ;)
considering most pirates cannot run it, its no big deal
"This thread is stupid and meaningless imo. Why do people always point fingers at the small percentage of people who are doing stupid stuff? It's like we hear things in the news "10% of the youth is of a certain age are criminals". Everyone goes ape shit. But this means 90% of the youth is still doing good why not focus on them?

Digital platforms will always have pirates no matter what protection you use. So the devs should make the life of 90% of legit users sour by implementing dumb always online DRM's in order to fight those 10%? Let them invest money in the game content instead of DRM so we can have free DLC i.e. sell chopped off material from the game via microtransactions to compensate for dumb ass expensive DRM."

This is very naive my friends and 80% of Mexico, have 99% of their games pirate and if you say something like "you have the money why you don't buy the game legit" they say: because is free, and don't bother to ask they don't know what is DRM they don't care.

O and they have very high-end machines so they have the money to buy legal games

companies run on cost-plus, tradition & marketing

because these things always come in threes

coronel_pekerman: developers are telling people in torrent sites to buy the game when they should be addressing their loyal customers asking about the graphic downgrade but its ok.

It will be fine. every game is pirated. Gamers love CDPR thats what really matters.

paladin181: What about a graphics downgrade? People make much ado about nothing. Play the game first, THEN worry about the graphics not meeting your needs.
I don't think many people are pissed off because of the graphics downgrade but because of the sneaky way and the fact that it resulted in making the old "gameplay footage" false advertizing. In times where so many pre-orders are made only because of a gameplay video this is quite important stuff.

avatar
jamyskis: Not to mention sales lost due to people refusing to buy the game because of the DRM.

Tolya: I don't think that the group is large enough to be meaningful in any way.
I wouldn't be so sure since it may be a significant number of your customers. Count me among them.
I simply don't buy (and neither pirate) stuff with DRM, that's why I'm here.

To be fair, steam has over 10 million active users, while GOG probably in the 100k range. So about that many don't care about DRM.

GOG doesn't sell the most popular games because companies don't want their games DRM free. that's why it doesn't have more users not because people don't care about DRM

of course. people are pissed off because they didn't admit it. they blamed it on youtube compression. they claimed no downgrade at all. its about honesty. if they advertise the game as open world they show you gameplay and then the game ends up being loading screen after loading screen people would be pissed off too

Excuse me dear sir *removes hat*, but I am deeply hurt by your statement. I am a meaningful person... At least that's what my mom says :'(

I am amazed that some people are shocked that TW3 is being pirated. Pirates are going to pirate no matter what, shame on them.

Thanks! Damn it sounds good... =)
Yes indeedy :)
So a pirate can afford a high end PC but can't afford a legal copy of a game ? I wonder how many of those pirates have a Steam account .

I'd be willing to bet that GOG has a lot more than that ...
