You jerks, seriously. Who are you to tell me what I can and can't read on this forum? If you DON'T like certain peoples' posts or that person DON"T freakin' READ IT. There, that simple. You have no right to censor this forum.

Or use Jerkmuter. censor what YOU read, not what I can. I'm an adult, I can decide what I want and don't want to read.

I have watched two of Aleric's threads get deleted for no reason. one was actually a fun thread.

screw you, you fascists.

I agree. Not with the language, but with the message. If you don't like a post ignore it, answer the post saying why you don't like it or even downvote it. Just don't delete it as spam unless it's actually spam (you know like the Chinese threads popping up every now and then).

It does not only disrupt conversations and confuses people who come late to the party. It also sows discord.

ah, it is harsh. i'm just super mad right now. I will fix, you are right :)
I'll be surprised if the people spam reporting his threads don't do it to this one too.

If I do turn out to be depressingly right, what is my prize?

One thing that would help: If threads with more replies took more spam reports to be deleted.

(Most actual spam topics get only 0 or 1 replies before deletion.)

That sure would have helped with the CFFA situation.

What can I say, this has been going for quite some time.

I used to care, sadly, I don't anymore.

We had it locked because the OP turned red and we suspected was also reported as spam. This way we wanted to conserve our conversations. If the rule dtgreene suggested had been in place it would have been really hard to delete it. It had over 100,000 posts after all.

And people say the gOg forum has no moderation...

; )

And yeah, it's crappy. Folks, show some maturity and some courtesy. And some common sense.

A) "Rate this post". Not "Rate this poster". I don't care if Member JKL repeatedly says your mother is a hamster and your father smells of elderberries; if that member is helpful in other places then you have no reason to downvote those helpful and contributing posts, especially to the point that those helpful posts are auto-deleted. It's a disservice to the rest of the forum, and you're contributing to forum problems. Yes, you perpetual downvoters are a big part of the community problems. You think that squelching particular users is making things better, and it's not. And yet you persist.

B) If you have a problem with the content of someone's post, have the courtesy to politely (or at least neutrally) explain why you're downvoting, via PM if that's what you want. Or don't downvote. And then drop the matter.

C) Stop sniping. If you have a problem with a particular member, stop nit-picking at them. This is especially true in topics where they haven't even posted. If I don't like someone, how would it make sense for me to make posts that cause more interaction with that person? Yet that's exactly what some of you are doing repeating the cycle. "Doctor, it hurts when I do this." "So stop doing it."

D) Drop it, turn the other cheek, whatever. What is possibly more useless than holding a grudge on a gaming forum? Especially against someone you will almost certainly never meet in person.

FFS, games are supposed to be about fun, and a forum for games should also manage to be fun - even in controversial topics. If we can't keep it fun, can we at least manage a modicum of respect toward others who share our hobby? You'd think that bit of common ground would count for something. It should be a cool thing that we share this love of gaming with people all around the world.

So grow up, and stop acting like petty little children. I have an 11-year old niece who behaves better than a fair number of the "adults" around here. How about everyone here Level Up and put some points in Courtesy and Maturity?
