I've tried to explain the preferential treatment. And I don't have a problem making fun of transgendered people in the slightest. Just not right now about the situation they're in. And I'm not in the business of selling entertainment media.
Like I also enjoy making fun of Americans, but if Gog existed back then and came out with "Our prices are crashing, too! The Witcher - just $9.11" while the second tower was still burning, I would have found that slightly distasteful, as well.
You can say that comparison is ridiculous. It might be. I'm not a transsexual US citizen, I absolutely can't judge how serious and/or terrifying their situation is right now. Point being: I'm pretty sure neither can Gog.

And no, I don't think anything is blown out of proportion, at least on my end. This isn't really a battle I chose. It just wasn't a good year for Gog from where I'm standing and this is the cherry on top. Unfortunately one that reminds me personally of some dog whistling garbage I've seen too much of elsewhere. So if I end up turning my back on this place, it's not out of a calculated boycott or anything like that, but because I flat out don't enjoy being a customer here anymore. That's an emotional response and I'm not going to judge anyone because they don't leave Gog. I'm just incredibly frustrated with this place.

With regards to damaging them, if you allude to doxing or whatever was going on there, that's obviously garbage and should not fly.

Hashtags in general, not this one)so much more special? They are collections of letters that loosely resemble words. If so much of your life is wrapped up in Twitter that hashtags are a main means of communication or directed offense, maybe your problem isn't the material you find offensive. People should GET OUT OF THEIR FuCKING PHONES and try to live life for 5 minutes. Maybe their life would be happier without people telling them what to be upset about all the time.
I think that was a general "you", but just for the record: I don't really use Twitter, I try to avoid it and as far as I'm concerned it may burn on the same trash heap as Resetera. So there's a good chance this hashtag might not be all that special and I'd be disgusted by absolutely everything else they post, as well.

But the place isn't so much Twitter. It's Gog by extension. And that's a problem. I reckon there's a difference with certain shows, personalities, gigs, etc being a bit edgy, that I can avoid if I'm too sensitive for it; and the place where I buy my escapism entertainment openly displaying that attitude.

Also I don't want to put words in your mouth here, so correct me, if I'm wrong, but I think you're drawing up battlelines here where there are none. I'm upset without anyone having to tell me to be.

It's basically changing the wording of the law so that there is no way a transgender individual can have legal protection under Title IX, since it's defining sex as biological gender and invalidating any other interpretation of the law. That's a lie. You can google Title IX, the results even have a featured snippet on top.

People have a right to not be discriminated against on the basis of their sex. No one is denying transgender people this protection.

Note that facilities and programs can still be sex-segregated. Title IX doesn't even prohibit single-sex schools, all it requires is that a similar service (programme, facility, activity, etc) should be available under similar conditions in the same district.

The core princple here is of equal opportunity and access. If a venue has men's toilets, it should have women's toilets, too -- they can't just tell women and girls to piss with the men, because it's not really access if it comes at the cost of personal privacy and dignity. If a school has a boys' football team, it should organize a girls' football team too or refer a girl to a local girls' team. It can't just say the team is mixed-sex and select all the objectively best players (which all happen to be boys, because duh).

Obama's administration thoroughly castrated these protections. Trump wants to reinstate them.

Trying to explain that simple fact to some people here is like banging your head against the well. A few people here will insist that just because they think a term accurately describes something, that it's not insulting to someone to use that term. Or they justify it by saying that someone else said something even worse... there's no civility, no empathy, only being right.

What was transphobic in that tweet? The only trans related thing in tweet was hashtag itself (and, I dare to point out, hashtag in itself does not tell it is trans related. Seriously, not everyone must know what social issues Muricans have right now, it is hard to keep up with them anyway). GOG used a lot of hashtags this way and no one cared, but suddenly now it is a crime.

Agreed. GOG, please do not cave to the mob. There is no reasoning with these people and nothing you say or do will ever be enough for them. They are totalitarians who demand complete control of what everyone else says, does, or even thinks. Do not apologize or appease them in any way. Just like we cannot negotiate with terrorists, we cannot negotiate with mobs.

Then they should stop doing it -- it's as simple as that. Right now it just looks like the GOG social media/ marketing guys are completely clueless and keep screwing up, over and over again.

Personally I don't give a fuck whether they keep their advertisements dry and serious, or make the occasional joke ( without ill intent ). But what they've been doing lately, with the constant back and forth, is just silly and surely has a negative impact on their public image.

GoG seems to be stuck in a precarious position of trying to be the hip, cool, fun company that is 'in' with gamer/internet/edgelord culture, while at the same time trying to present itself as a respectible, professional, and inoffesive online business.

Honestly, at this point I'd prefer if they'd just scrap the whole casual conversation aspect of their social media and use the platforms purely for information and content delivery. There's not enough to gain anymore from a company having a personaltity in gaming focused forums and social media and too much to lose when trying to entice publishers and developers to use the system after gaffes like this inevitally occur.

Maybe GOG wouldn't get in so much trouble if they just started treating their social media followers as adults again instead of constantly tweeting/posting lame memes and other childish nonsense.

Offensive or not, there was nothing of value in that tweet. It was just dumb noise.
