Transgender people's feelings are obviously more fragile and important than anyone else's. Say something negative, even unintentionally, at all about them and a large group gets offended. But pretty much all the transgender people I know find nothing offensive about a harmless joke. A few do, but they're outliers and generally perpetual victims. When a straight white man is the butt of a joke it's funny. When a black woman is it's racist and sexist. When a gay or lesbian is, it's homophobic, and if that person was transgender it's transphobic. That's not how the world should work people. Learn to laugh at yourselves more. Humor is a fickle thing, but people should not be offended at every little comment.

People talk about ending hate, then overreact to things and perpetuate hate by screaming hateful things at a person or entity who made a statement in error. Screwing up once doesn't mean you now know everything you're not allowed to do or say, and you should not spread hate, but educate. And pick your battles. Screaming over a tweet that was deleted before anyone actually saw it is insane. And ResetEra needs to burn in a fire for their ridiculous stance on hate. I've seen many posts bashing one group or another, but even stating that you don't understand why people are upset, or asking for a little clarification is worth a ban there. It's a more toxic community than this ever was, with their echo chamber mentality.

LootHunter: It doesn't matter if he was or wasn't. The problem is that "won't be erased" can be applied to a whole lot of things (or people for that matter). But now because of current political climate only transgender people can use it.

Note, that tweet itself didn't use that hashtag in some malicious or unrespecting manner. In fact, it was describing similar situation and if anything that tweet could make gamers to relate to transgender people, since they had to share same problems with the law. But no transgender people (or their supporters) cared if by accident people who liked old games could become aware of some "minority" issues. All they cared about was not allow white straight cis male gamers to taint hashtag with their filthy white cis male hands.
As a phrase it could be applied to a bunch of things, but as a hashtag it only existed in one context.

It would all be so much simpler if commercial businesses would limit themselves to professional transactions, with the occasional right to refuse service to obvious troublemakers.

The "warmth" and "friendliness" should also be limited - general pleasantries about the weather, and only in physical small shops.

The problem we have with business today, is corporations going all "hello, fellow kids" in our arses. It's annoying, it's fake, it divides people, and it hurts the business itself.

That's my point. Transgender rights activists took a very general phrase (unlike, "Black lives matter" for example) for their hashtag and now complain that others use it too.

Just look at the tweet itself...which explanation makes more sense....

1) GoG saw a popular hashtag, saw a way the phrase matches DRM-free gaming and ran with it.

or

2) GoG are secretly transphobic and are looking for every angle to stick it to the trans folks.

Now, GoG issued an apology to those who felt offended by it. That should have been enough, but of course it isn't for certain vocal minorities. It should be pretty obvious where the over-reaction lies.

Funny how hashtags are created on the spot by someone, it's not like there's a set of them, or they're reserved for anything specifically. Just because someone appropriates it doesn't give them ownership of it. It's words. That's all. But people will go out of their way to be offended by anything.

Sure, it's 100% possible there's just some super coincidence at play here, but the fact is that this hashtag wasn't really used prior to the political events of that weekend and to assume a random coincidence (even when GOG's twitter said they grabbed it from the context of a trend) is to assume the least likely scenario. Moreover, their intent ultimately doesn't matter, if someone uses a poorly thought out turn of phrase that's offensive THEY SHOULD APOLOGIZE. That's just common decency.

I'm complaining that making a joke using it the same day that the government claims it's going to define them out of existence is in bad taste. That's all I'm saying.
