Since this is still open, I will just add my two cents.

They don't believe their bodies will magically turn into the gender they feel they are. I have no idea why anyone would believe they would believe that.

I will take this risk of getting all "esoteric/existencial"/whatever by stating this: We are not our bodies.
No, you don't have to believe it, but when the time draws near that your body returns to where it came from, you may remember this and it may keep you from having endless nightmares of being trapped underground rotting away or in a coffin about to be incinerated or whatever.

It's really something to behold GOG's social media people constantly hitting home runs like this. This mistake shouldn't have even been made in the first place. They should be double checking everything they're tweeting out. Or at the very least check once, one click and they could have seen what the hashtag was for.

They really need to resolve this issue going forward. I can't imagine GOG is making itself out to be an enticing platform for devs and publishers when they keep tripping over themselves like this in front of everyone.

Can I play fence sitter and say that GOG's apology is decent in that they reaffirmed their disinterest in engaging in hotbutton issues? I disagree with the thought police over at resetera, and I'm aware some people will clutch this like a cornerstone (props for whoever recognizes the allusion I just made) and be incapable of forgiving the slight. But so long as they aren't bending over backward to appease that specific demographic a la Wizards of the Coast or D20 to the point of attacking other customers, I'm fine. Neutrality is best.

That said, can anyone tell me what the Trump admin is doing? I see the more left leaning media conflating gender and sex when they talk about this new proposed definition. But I thought the progressive view was that gender and sex are (somewhat) unrelated, so I'm really unsure of what is being reacted to in this situation.
