My favorite Steel Panther song is Pussywhipped, reminds me of Metallica. Gloryhole and Asian Hooker are classics as well.

Didn't at least some of the SSI titles end up in some sort of legal limbo after the company went under? I have the impression I should be certain SP1 was one of those affected.

Glad to still have the original CD and a Dosbox installation on hand that I fire up every now and then.

Something most Denuvo shills I run into on the internets fail to properly appreciate.

The original game was published by Mindscape. Chaos Gate was a game in a similar situation and it's now published by GOG. I suppose GOG could acquire the rights and publish the first game, but I don't know wether that would benefit them financially.

Panzer General 1 is also a game I'd love to buy here but I don't see how that could happen.

But I gotta say it doesn't feel the same way. I mean: it's exactly the same game... But it lacks the small details like the WW2 movie clips and the game window is too small.
It's better than nothing I guess (and it's free) but if GOG sold it, it'd be a way for younger players to know how one of the most important strategy game series was born.

Steel panthers I, Steel Panthers II Modern Battles, Steel Panthers III Brigade Command and of course Panzer General I, Allied General etc... could be great additions to the library, for sure.

All of these classics have different newer remakes or versions that use to be even better and more complete than the old ones, and they are stil useable and played today by a lot of fans.
But I think something was lost in the evolution. The past titles had details and design, movies, more baroque interfaces, the game aestethics and polishing were rich. It is Hard to explain.
Now aparently people love grey and minimalistic, speadsheets UIs, the smaller the best, and with multimedia content at minimum.

Something was lost in later versions.:)

I still remember fondly the minimalist, yet sober and appealing design of Panzer General 1. It reminded me of Art Deco and so was quite in tune with the game's setting.

In fact the first had the best interface of the series. Equilibrium between fast usability, detail/aesthetic and polishing. The one in Pacific General was more evolved but more slow and unconfortable to be used.
