CharlesGrey: It's a fight to the death, obviously!

They have far greater numbers, but the average GOG user is older and tougher. I think most of us can take on about a dozen fat CoD kids.

It would play out kind of like a highly retarded version of "300".

nightcraw1er.488: Really, I am imagining pale, long haired old gits arguing over the pizza and deep heat vs a million illiterate brats, or is that being generationist?

Anyway, its a forgone conclusion as we can just pull the internet cable and they have nothing
lol exactly what I was thinking of.

Austrobogulator: Honestly, there's some pretty bad stuff in the Gog forums too, take this thread for example.
That's hilarious! I had no idea what to expect when I highlighted the link. :P

Fairfox: There's enough a-holes on here, lately, it's just Steam's community is far larger. if GOG had that amount of users, you'd see the same amount of douche-baggery. SIGH.

Actually, that would at least force GOG to do something about said douche-baggery. We can but hope.
Ah difference is, the Steam community know they are being dick heads. GOG folks think they're simply being serious.

JKHSawyer: They both suck, GOG's sucks just a tad bit less.
All communities suck. :P
Meh the Steam community is quantity over quality. So, much like the rest of Steam.

agree, steam is like a way you sometimes buy food in bulk, steam's 19 cents prices 'ruin' the industry.
i read an article about the ridiculous prices , something like:
massive discounts 'bad for gamers' or so.

anyways, the smaller a 'community' is, the 'closer' the community will be.
smaller 'communities' can be overseen better then mass communities with gazillions of users.

The only benefit of mass would be in case of old fashioned wars, were 600 thousands troops would definetly beat 100K of troops assuming both use just manpower with equal arms. (no peashooters vs a uzi or so)

So smaller can sometimes be better then mass.
The sheer number of users, which is why GOG is deteriorating as it grows.

Yeah, I remember GOG jumping on that topic as well and then a month or two later they started doing it themselves. "realities of the market"
GOG managing director Guillaume Rambourg shared a shockingly controversial opinion: there's a downside to Steam discounts. "Heavy discounts are bad for gamers," Rambourg told Rock, Paper, Shotgun. "If a gamer buys a game he or she doesn't want just because it's on sale, they're being trained to make bad purchases, and they're also learning that games aren't valuable." The all-too-common phenomenon of spending more money than you want to just to get everything that's on sale in a particular week is "not good for anyone," he said.

If, like us, you wonder at this point how this attitude squares with GOG's own weekend sales, Rambourg explained: "Our average sale tends to be around 40% – 50% off; that's plenty of incentive to pick up a game if you're interested or if you just think you might like to try it because you're not sure about the game, but not some crazy 75% or 85% discount that damages the long-term value of a game." Of course, if you want to get extremely technical about it, the majority of GOG's business is selling $6 versions of games that cost upward of $50 when they originally came out (twenty years ago).

So anyway God sees Eve jump into the ocean and screams, "Shit! How am I gonna get that smell out of the fish!?"

At least we have the edge on maturity and good taste. :D
I tried having a general discussion about a game on Steam, Dying Light in this case, simply relating to a fun experience. One person said something interesting and relevant, then others started flaming each other for some reason.

I find that on GOG, I can have these, pointless discussions; whereas on Steam, the only discussions allowed are 'this game breaking bug' or 'fuck you, developers I'm on a hate bandwagon'.

I just wish that users had to show their real age, so you could avoid the crazy kids everywhere..

Tauto: Steam and Gog both suck, the only difference is one has moderators and the other has pretend wannabe moderators.
Wrong. Gog has no moderators. Just some people to clean up spam if needed.
