Azrael360: I bought this very same game as a gift for 2 friends last night. It's true you can't use it as a trade item for the next 30 days, but what I did and both ways worked was to send one from my Inventory after I stored it there to one friend in my Steam Friends List (he received it with no issues), and the other I sent it during the checkout directly through Steam. I don't know what Steam is trying to do here, because it worked anyway by bypassing the trade window...

By the way, many thanks for the giveaway! I'm trying to buy the game for myself before the sale ends (I'm selling cards to get it), so there's a high probability that I won't enter, but if I'm there will be because I didn't make it... (:P)

liquidsnakehpks: woah that's a pretty shocking change , any idea why this restriction was put in ? from my understanding now if you buy a game as a gift you cant give to anyone else for 30 days ? or you have to select a mail address before asap.
It only affects the items in your Inventory to be used as an item in the Trade Window for the next 30 days, nothing else... (:P)
You can still send them as I did last night, completely bypassing the trading, but still the trade can be done, which makes this new rule really stupid... (:P)

lol i guess they thought everyone trades on steam via the trade window only haha.

I hope no giveaways were affected by this , some people tend to get the gift to be gifted sometimes via a trade before for the giveaway.

Update, seems like steam has made some news about trading gifts... It seems like I won't be able to trade the game gift but will be able to send it via e-mail. So check you e-mails!

Since this change I have sent 3 games that I bought within the last week as gifts, and had no issues. This is the reason I tell everyone in my giveaways to accept my friend request on Steam to get the game :)

actually it's more to how valve trying to avoid take responsibility from trader scam. you know, in the past if someone's game revoked because of bad trader (chargeback because of unvalid credit card or else) you can get your items back, because you're protected by trade record, and valve can rolling back the trades.

meanwhile, if you gift the game, you responsible for your own item/game. no record of trade, so valve no longer have to worry about it anymore.

but more or less this has nothing to do with gifting, as it's running just like usual. so for people in this thread, nothing to worry about i guess.
